100% agree.

We got to the venue just before 1pm and I was stunned to see so many there - absolutely superb.
This was the first Gods / Firefest that all my family had attended together and my wife was knackered after about half of the House of Lords set so we sneaked out early - not before being berated by the ever watchful Dargan tho LOL.
Highlights for us were the whole of the pre-show on Friday - 3 superb bands in a "cosy" venue.
Then on Saturday stringing Vaughn, Danger Danger and Harem Scarem one after the other was a master stroke - worth the price of the ticket alone.
I really hope the guys made some money out of this to cover the losses on the first show then who knows......

Shy were superb, closely followed by House Of Lords, Danger Danger, and Vaughn …. Excellent day out, and from a consistency point of view, even better than the first one!

Nice one Kieran … good on ya mate!

Great day, highlights being Harem Scarem, Danger Danger & Vaughn. I was also surprised at the fantastic turnout - it was nice to see a packed venue for a melodic rock event.

Well done to Kieran, Bruce and everyone else who worked so hard to bring us a cracking event. Look forward to FF3.

Have to agree - a blinding gig! Harem Scarem and D2 were superb, but HoL were on another level...as a friend of mine commented "15 years away, and then this good after 3 days rehearsal...we wouldn`t be this good after 3 days away and 15 years rehearsal!"

Thanks to Kieran and Bruce for a superb weekend..when`s FF3?

What a weekend......definitely up there with the best of them.

I'm sure we'll get his from Kieran and Bruce but one thing I do want to say is A MASSIVE hello and thank you to Phil and Sue...from the moment we arrived til the moment we left these two could be seen scurrying around doing all sorts of work. We WILL get that drink together soon :)

Me and Nix had an unvelievably brilliant time. I've not been too well lately and the friends we met there helped cheer me up and make me feel a hell of a lot better.

The bands were awesome but special mentions to Shy, Harem Scarem and the brliilliant D2. Was great to chat with Ted again and he's still one of the nicest guys in the biz....more Southern Comfort next time dude :)

Mega mega thanks to Gav, and the unbelievable Newdeck brothers. Nix is still laughing (SPONGE CAKES!!!...ha ha ha ha HA HA HA Boom Boom!!!) for making us laugh for the entire weekend. Baz and Jeanette foe always being ready for fun and beer, Shazza and Jay, better friends no one could ever wish to have. Wobbly G for being not so wobbly and generally just being there, Dawny and Sam..well...just for being you. Hope to see you both in Chester real soon. Rondo...for talking UFO and other such bollocks with me and Davy Harkness.....I have never seen anyone so drunk/hungover and still spend all weekend promoting his band......what was the bed curry ike mate?? lol

Thank you all for an incredible weekend

Kieran, Bruce and everyone else involved Hats Off guys you really pulled this one off :)

Andy.

P.S. Anyone else I forgot to mention...just feel free to post abuse :)

Surpise of the weekend?

How good HoL were! They were fucking amazing.

Crimes of Passion - the band formerly known as Deadline - were a shock too. It's a different band and this time they're REALLY GOOD.

What an absolutely awesome day, a massive attendance & some great peformances , Vaughn being band of the day for me , Danny is a master & what a voice , D2 & Harem Scarem ran em a close second tho with the latter being as Heavy as @!#$ in parts, this was all topped off by a perfect Rockin Nite in The Rig, hats off to the DJ whoever he was (Dave?), he kept me on the dancefloor for 2 hours non stop with one classic Melodic Rock track after another, even playing Wig Wam & i thouight i was the only one playing their stuff at Rock Nites ...lol i eventually left around 1:30am exhausted

Keiran/Bruce you guys certainly know how to put on a show, can`t wait for FFIII, you know who i wanna see ; - )

every band was superb, from power quest who I thought would give me head aches to house of lords.

I found power quest's non power metal stuff to be not that far off to classic brit bands tobruk, shy... any comments?

Really just to echo what everyone else has said.......great weekend, venue location was ideal (hotel really close, city centre and food really close etc), bands pretty much faultless - D2, Vaughn, HS, HoL how could it not be superb? As for the turnout - great to see a packed venue and hope this is enough to secure a FF3 sometime soon (I'm free next weekend lol).

Don't think I've ever enjoyed a festival so much from start to finish and big thanks to Kieran and Bruce and all the organisers for making it happen. So pleased there was a big turnout including younger faces.

On the Saturday Vaughn were the best of a great bunch - Danny superb as ever, the band @!#$ hot and I loved the choice of set (the rest of the Tyketto material can wait for another time). Danger Danger fun, Harem Scarem really tight and House of Lords superlative musicians.

The other highlight for me was seeing Blue Tears 15 years after first hearing the debut! Funnily enough I thought their performance was much better (and longer) at the pre-show than at Firefest itself.

Only James Chrstian's 'coach driver' jacket and hearing the occasional backing tape stopped it from being a perfect day!

Well just recovering back here in wigan.

was very apprehensive about going and had a migraine and bit of a panic b4 fridays festivities. However had a blinding weekend, thanks to everyone who made an effort to catch up with me and see how i was it was appreciated.

Was great to see nexx again and catch up with u all for a natter :-)

As for saturday my highlights were shy, vaughn as ever and of course danger danger. think me face was in danger of splitting with all the grinning.

Missed most of harem scarem as i had to go for food although after hearing they didnt play most of the stuff i like was prob best time for me to go out.

House of lords, have to say i have loved them since i can remember but i was a bit disappointed, cant fault their performance but to many solos and things that i dont enjoy maybe i was just exhausted and over come with being out not sure. james sounded great as ever though - i would listen to him sing the telephone book.

blue tears not my thing too bon jovi for me, and power quest etc just not my thing at all.

all in all a great weekend, glad i managed to force myself to come out, didnt manage to do the full staying out all night chatting to everyone thing not ready for that yet, but great to get out and about in the real world and see some great music again.

Also was great that i dragged my fella ( a rock concert virgin) along and he survived and enjoyed the weekend - danger danger being his favourite of the weekend. Don't think he will ever get over seeing so much hair in one weekend thought rofl.

Also have to say nottingham spot on as a venue for me. i love nottingham anyway but easy to get to, good choice of hotels and great in terms of having access to shops and places to eat too. Also seems to have helped the turn out being there.

oh well heres to another one and hopefully i will be back to my sociable bubbly self by then

NEXX for me.....awesome!

Not really into first two Sat bands but from SHY (who were superb) onwards it was about as good as it gets.

Thanks to all concerned - FF3 must be a go'er? with NEXX nailed on to promote new album!

What a weekend - Nexx were amazing - What other band could cover Alan Parsons, Whitesnake, Scarem, Journey & Anastacia and do them all justice!
Great gig and must be on main bill for Nexx (oops Next!) one!! Really nice people too - Fran will mail you again soon.
Saturday - Well Shy were the ones for me - Too low down the bill IMHO but what a difficult choice when you have Vaughn, HOL. DD2 & the mighty Scarem to follow!! Scarem played a blinder.

Rock City also a good choice of Venue with an excellent central location and a decent bar as well.

To the boys from Neath nice to meet you guys (We won the Rugby too!) and will catch you up for a beer at FF3 hopefully.

Finally - To Bruce and Kieran - What a show guys. The turnout seemed excellent and hopefully the takings keeps the FF show on the road with another show (or two!!) next year. Thankyou, Thankyou , Thankyou!!!

See you all next year hopefully
Steve

Just back from a top weekend. Met some great like minded rock folks, converted a friend into a melodic rock fan and saw the mighty Scarem kick my ass for a second time. Honourable mentions to Shy, Vaughn, DD and HOL too. Blue Tears far more impressive on Friday than Saturday but certainly great to see them. Some great stuff played in the Rig too even if they didnt put on the Fair Warning track I asked for!
Thanks to all concerned and hopefully #3 is already in the planning.

PS Bet I was the only one that was chasing (and catching) a dog on the run around the suburbs of Nottingham this morning!

What a fucker of a weekend, eh?......totally top notch stuff!!
Assorted highlights:Finally getting to see House of Lords live( a bookie would have given you better odds on Ian Paisley buggering the pope on the vatican steps.....wearing a celtic top!),Danny Vaughn and band for a blistering set, seeing Lanny Cordola walking round via fossa pished out of his tree (top man!), Andy C for putting up with my bollocks and discussions on Tonka's guitar playing and Neil Carter's effeminate dress sense!, my room-mate Tom for putting up with my drunken antics!,seeing "Joe Scully"of "Neighbours" fame getting drunk and lairy in our hotel lobby when they refused to serve him any more drink, talking to "Brruuuunnnoooooo" Ravel of D2 and him being a diamond geezer, Gav and the Newdeck brothers for starting their own Right said Fred tribute band!,a couple of lovely ladies in the rig later on that night!!,Steve Harris from Shy for being a ringer of carry-on star Jim Dale in "Carry on columbus"!....and finally thanks go to Misters Dargan and Mee for having balls the size of watermelons and for doing exactly what it says on the tin!

P.s There's always a "foist"time for doing "doity boids" from "noo joisey"!!!!!!

There is not a lot that I can say that hasn't already been said. Another cracking Firefest weekend. Hopefully with such a good crowd there this will be the sign of things to come.
Thought Vaughn and D2 were outstanding. Was well impressed with Balance of Power as I had never heard any of their stuff and am going to aquire some albums.
Thanks to everyone concerned that made this possibble. Thanks to the Ashcrofts, the Dargans, Bruce Mee and the bands for a brilliant weekend.
Another highlight of the weekend had to be when Danny Vaughn got his own back on Rondo in the rig for the infamous (Empire) leg grabbing incident. Pete was probably to pished to notice! LOL!

Thanks Very much

Si

Roll on Firefest III

P.S Rondo "foist" that looks like you are making fun of an Oirish accent and not a Noo Joisey accent. LMAO

Simply an awesome performance and Jack I agree they were the band of the day for me too. If Danny is reading, I would love for a couple of those Waysted tracks to become staples of the Vaughn live set. These songs are simply too good to be forgotten.
My girlfriend Julie was a newcomer to melodic rock and really hadn't seen much live music at all before but I am delighted to say she is a convert and particularly loved Harem Scarem and Power Quest. We can't wait for Firefest III!

nice to meet up with so many friends I hadn't seen for a long long time, even some fans from Italy.

Well done Bruce and Keiran for a well organised day. Unfortunatley I missed Powerquest, but managed to catch all the other bands.

Particular highlights for me, were Vaughn (what a frontman !), Harem Scarem, Danger Danger, (Ted, what a nice guy )

oh, and the plastic sheep that was flying around !! but I guess when you've had a skinful anything will make you laugh !!!

Like everyone else already said, a big thanks to Kieran, Bruce and everyone else involved for the excellent show. With a line-up like this, coming over from the Netherlands is a no-brainer. I definitely hope there will be a Firefest III, though this line-up will be hard to top.
I especially loved Nexx, Blue Tears, Shy, Vaughn(!), D2 and House of Lords. Harem Scarem played a great set too, and they seem to be getting a bit better at live shows and entertaining the audience, but the impression remains that they are still not really a live band, no matter how great they are in the studio.

I agree with Neil that Blue Tears was better on Friday - I enjoyed the acoustic set that we got when Robert went through the bass drum - but I still regret that they only played for half an hour on Saturday... maybe because they already knew that the setting up for Vaughn would take much longer than the scheduled time? If so, thanks to Gregg & co for giving Vaughn the time they needed... Vaughn was awesome!

Hope to see you all again at the next one!

It was an amazing show, but I just couldn't disagree more with several comments/reviews mentioning Harem Scarem not being a great live band or not including them in list of highlights of the day. Frankly I'm baffled and must have been at another Firefest II in a parellel universe or something!

I was in the middle of the dance floor for each of the last 4 bands and from the crowd reaction I got it seemed to me that Harem Scarem got the most consistently rapturous applause, cheers, folks singing along and kicked butt big time more than any other band. Now ok I have to admit a wee bit of bias here as I think Harem Scarem are the greatest and most consistently excellent melodic/hard rock band of all time, but that aside I thought they exuded class, stage presence, coolness and had a fantastic sound throughout their performance.

Let's just agree that the whole gig was amazing, all bands did themselves proud and, as I'm being diplomatic now, HAREM SCAREM ARE THE GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD AND WERE THE GREATEST BAND AT FIREFEST II (oops, won't be getting employed by Mr. Blair now, all diplomacy has vanished once more!). Song of the day? Surely 'Saviour Nevery Cry' (there goes that bias again!), although 'Forever Young' was pretty incredible too!

Steve.

1st of all great show.loved shy, vaughn, balance and house of lords.didn't think much of powerquest they didn't seem to know whether they were power metal or aor.blue tears were also a poor mans jovi meets bruce springteen, really boring with no stage prescence.scarem really didn't do antything for me either but the rest of the bands put on a stormer, with danger puting on the the most fun show, shy the show stealing show, and the lords the most professional show.it all went well apart from selling out of food to early.here's looking forward to firefest 3.
