Alternate history: Toto albums reshuffled

Postby Sundet » Mon Apr 06, 2015 8:51 pm

A fortnight ago I had a little too much time on my hands and decided to create an iTunes playlist for each Toto album with my preferred tracklist, i.e. with my least favourite tracks omitted and others (i.e. b-sides, leftovers, etc.) included. This proved to be much more fun than I thought and in some cases even made me appreciate certain albums even more. I think I only skipped a couple of the albums (for lack of extra tracks), but pretty much made my way through most of them. I had to have certain rules when including tracks not recorded by Toto per se. Solo tracks were okay (if sounding 'Toto-ish', meaning usually Lukather and Williams solo tracks), while tracks recorded by other artists as a minimum had to be written by one or more Toto members and feature performances by Toto member(s). So this is what I came up with (and don't take it too seriously, this is just for fun):

I think some tunes on Past to Present, such as "Out of Love" would have been written by the band written regardless of 'The Byron Experiment' and deserve to be on here. The only TOTO cd where I have major issues with the track listing is FIB. The cd kicks my ass right out of the gate with the first 5 tunes being some of the BEST music by the band EVER, but the second half is spotty. IV & Isolation are probably two of the best sequenced cds I own. Wouldn't touch a thing. I am also finding XIV, like both of Joe's band efforts, to be very consistent. I will agree that "The Letting Go" would have a great TOTO tune. Reminds me of "The Other Side."
