Tony Dowler returns to the area on May 10th with his Hellhounds for what
will be one of only two shows here this year. Hailing from Manchester,
the band can best be described as the ultimate blues rock power trio as
those who saw him last year, as The Tony Dowler Band, will no doubt
attest to.

They have played and headlined festivals throughout europe during the
last few years, including the Shetland Blues Festival and last
year played at the Bremanger Rock Festival in Norway. They have also
headlined the annual Rory Gallagher tribute concert on several occasions.

Fronted by guitarist and vocalist Tony Dowler, they play a mixture of
their own material and classic blues songs from the likes of Rory
Gallagher, ZZ Top, Hendrix, Robert Johnson, etc.

Dowler himself is a truly brilliant guitarist of very few equals, and
even fewer betters, in that genre of music. His prowess can best be
summed up by a review of a recent gig they did with the headline
“Guitarist as good as Jimmy Page wows audience...”.

The band's phenomenal live sound comes from Dowler's incredible
performance and the very tight rhythm section behind it. Their version
of “As the crow flies”, once covered by Rory Gallagher, is worth the
entry fee by itself as Dowler plays slide guitar with such virtuosity it
has to be seen to be believed.

On their upcoming show at the Dolphin Hall, Dowler said “we are pleased
to be able to make the journey south this year, albeit for a brief
visit. Having played in Nailsworth for the last 2 years, we are looking
forward to this gig and seeing old and new faces alike. “ Promoters
Stage and Sound share his enthusiasm adding “we are over the moon the
band are coming back here – their performances are always superb and in
the main man they have one of the best musicians i have ever seen or heard.”

Support for the gig comes from local bands The Boogie Bop Boys and
Tetbury based Danny Epsilon..

If you only see one gig this year, then you could not do a lot better
than to see this one.

Tickets are priced £6 in advance and £8 on the door and are available
from the venue, The Trading Post in Stroud, Lakeside Garage in
Nailsworth or online at Tickets are limited so you are
advised to get them in advance.
