I think Van Halen is somewhere between 200,000-400,000. Don't know about Chickenfoot.

Sammy (and Michael) Win....AGAIN!!!!

Go Red Rocker!

A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH SALES SURPRISE:
The question being asked by many Van Halen fans is just how many units has the band's latest studio album sold since its release in February of this year. A Different Kind Of Truth won widespread praise from fans and critics alike. It certainly remains a favourite of mine.
But that said - sales have been relatively stagnant after the initial release. As of last week, the album had sold a total of 400,620 units in the USA.
There is no real way to gauge total international sales, but if you take the USA alone, for comparison Van Halen 3 has scanned 515,322 [no mention of how many of those are in used CD bins] and the first Chickenfoot album has scanned 532,092 units to date. I don't yet have numbers for the second Chickenfoot album which was released just prior to the Van Halen album. Interesting numbers.

Their both two different monsters. Where Sammy and the Foot goes for a nice melodic rock song the DLR VH goes and tries to punch you in the face with a killer guitar riff and some corny ass lyrics. Love all 3 albums (Both Chickenfoot albums and ADKOT) each for what each brings.

To be fair, the Chickenfoot debut has been out over 3 years...ADKOT has been out 6 months. I'm sure that by 2012, ADKOT will be at least Gold...apples to apples.

And I'm a Hagar guy... 8)

I know, i know!

Actually I enjoyed all three albums as well...

I did prefer Chickenfoot...

Although I will say, Hagar has used a corny lyric or two in his day....

Just curious do sale totals include digital/iTunes sales? I bought mine at Walmart. It wondering if those 400,000 include digital sales.

The band should try something novel and actually go on television like most of their contemporaries and do a real interview to promote the record.
But I guess that would mean they'd have to be in the same room with each other for an hour, which apparently they don't want to do.

If they ever change their minds, I nominate Andrew to conduct it ... and if not, me. :)
