Suck-ness. This will not be a well attended tour. Drives less excitement than either Journey-Def Leppard or REO-Chicago.

This may be the worse Styx package tour yet, it makes no sense to me.

and dont get me wrong, I like tesla alot.....I just dont their music is a good match with styx or joan jett on a full blown tour.

and I saw joan open for aerosmith once and she didn't suck, but her with styx makes no sense at all to me either.

I saw Tesla on the Tesla/Styx/Def Leppard tour in 2014 and I must say Tesla is alright but I didn't really care about them.

For me the only chance to see Styx is typically at a casino almost 3 hours away. The venue itself sucks because many people are comped tickets (I've seen 70-80 year olds in the front rows leaving 15 minutes in) or you have folks who demand you sit down and yell at you... at a rock concert, on the floors within the first 10 rows...

So, alas I'll be buying a ticket for Tesla/Joan/Styx. $325 CAD for the VIP (t-shirt, and other merch goodies) second row. I *might* go for it :P

In all honesty here and I'm really trying to be open minded. Why, if you have an album that has been pretty well received by your record buying base would you subject yourself to being one of 3 with the typical summer tour? Why wouldn't you play smaller halls and really try to promote your album and play it through in its entirety. I have my hypotheses ($) but would like to hear from the Mission advocates why, if this album is strong enough and if you really wanted to leverage it, you would subject yourself doing the 1 hour and 15 minute set list list of "just (current version of Styx's view of) the hits" with maybe "Gone Gone Gone" and "Radio Silence" sneaking in?

Bought second row centre for Toronto (Crystal Ball VIP Package). I'm excited :) Paying an extra $225 CAD to meet the guys was tempting, but I need to get a hotel that night too :P

Todd posted on Facebook that Mission tour dates are being worked on for this fall. So there’s that.

Frankly if Styx was to do that the tour would tank very quickly. While some people may be interested in new music from a band like Styx, the broader audience comes to hear the hits or the songs they know.

I really question how this show is going to draw. They've run the analytics on it I'm sure, but I don't see the demand. Multi-act shows do best when the music between the two bands crosses over in similarity and style. Why? A vast majority of the casual fans who likes a genre of music (call it "arena" rock - Journey/Styx/Foreigner/Boston/REO/Kansas/Night Ranger etc.) probably are not going to see Styx by themselves. However, Styx teamed with another band of similar ilk now is more attractive paired with another band that the casual fan also likes. Its like a 2 for 1 kind of deal. But if it is a band with a differ sound that is less attractive to the casual fan, then there is no added incentive to purchase tickets for that show. I think its a big ask to get two separate fan bases to pluck down $ to see one act they like and another they don't. I don't see a lot of crossover between Joan Jett and Styx and even less with Tesla (who is a 90s hair band). I wouldn't have put this tour out there. I would have gone with an old standby.

I think for Roger Waters the most I paid was around $330 a ticket (scalper) for 6th row centre when he did the Dark Side stadium tour (SkyDome, Toronto)

I did it... second row centre. Thankfully for $325 it includes a bunch of merchandise and there are no service charges added on (shirt, poster, coin, pin set, 'limited edition VIP merch item', VIP laminate and a commemorative ticket)

$550 for that + a meet and greet with a photo and chance for autograph with the band... I said eff that.

Def Leppard and REO seem to be their go-to partners for tours. Leppard is out with Journey and REO is out with Chicago. So then who does Styx partner with? :P

Tesla has opened for Styx/Def before so it's not like they've never done it. Maybe it was just the logistics of it all that lead them to co-headline with Joan

Where to start ?? :?: ??
Guess with Joan Jett.Everybody knows of her, but don't probably know much of her music.
She has certainly been around, from her early days in Runaways.I know maybe 2 songs of hers.
I wouldn't go to a show because of her.Didn't she tour a package last year with Boston or some such band ?
So she isn't new to the concept.Yes I think Styx is taking a bit of a chance here.

Anyways, seems like Styx is doing a tour like this every summer so it must be profitable.
So yes it's the mighty $$ talking, and who can blame them..

Will I go.? No.It's very close to me, but I don't think I can get bothered.
I have seen Styx w/ Dennis twice.5 or 6 times without.
It will be more less same old same old.Do I really need to hear Come Sail Away and Blue Collar Man live again.No.

Probably at my saturation point with concerts of theirs. But with a possible go to a fall Mission tour, depending .

What to do about the Mission in concert.? Initially I was all for a the whole album being played. Not so sure anymore.
It really is a stellar album, but hearing the album from start to end, at a concert,I think is going to be a really trying affair.I don't find much variation in the songs, and ,but great on their own terms.Often in concert, when a band says 'Here's one from our new album',reaction can be pretty indifferent.People really do come to hear all the tried and true if you know what I mean.
I will look forward to how they are going to tour that album in the fall.Maybe they should and could do a maybe 20 minute highlights from Mission, but the whole thing ,not sure.
As I said.I love the Mission, and friggin perfect headphone album.

I am helter skelter here.Scuse me.

I'm going to see them for the 11th time this summer, I've probably missed them another 5-6 times. Never old enough to see them with Dennis (I was 15 in the Summer of '99)

Absolutely, the guys pretty much do the same set always. Open with GI, close with Rockin' The Paradise. Larry always does Criminal Mind, etc..

I will tell you as one of my most favourite bands, I just don't care. Once they come on stage, I'm ready to rock!

I met Glenn and Todd at my first Styx concert (and JY too... but I don't want to talk about it) and was lucky enough to meet Dennis when he came to my city.

Alas, I did spend the whole day thinking about getting a ticket for this tour, ended up saying "let's do it". I'll be seeing Jethro Tull at the same venue the night before :D
