The "we" that froy talks about are simply the people who now hate Styx. I doubt very much that Tommy gives a damn about that crowd.
This is actually a note from home, now that we've officially
concluded our 1999 tour. For years since then we kept a tally of how
many hundreds of shows it had been. We've since lost count.
We came out of the chute in July of 1999 knowing that we had
something to prove. To prove to you that we did not take lightly what
we had done, rebuilding the band from the ground floor, literally
pulling it out of the ashes after the disintegration that occurred in
1997 when we realized that we really had come to an impasse. As a
patient, STYX as we knew it had died on the operating table and the
only hope was to replace a vital organ, literally! When we awakened
we were more full of life than ever and ready to continue our mission-
-to take our music to fans all over the world, to bring that unique
feeling that is STYX to fans old and new and to let them know that
they could now depend upon us to keep the STYX flame burning as long
as we can still put one foot in front of the other. In July of 1999
on stage in Branson, MO., you made it perfectly clear that you felt
the same as us, and that was all we needed to know. Since then we
have performed more live shows for you than we did in the previous 20
years.
Actually Monker, I do think Tommy does care about "that" crowd.
SuiteMadameBlue wrote:ChicagoStyx says:As far as Dennis’s show being more of a rock show then a Styx show. You must be kidding Froy. Is there anybody on this board who will back up Froy on this one? How about you Suite? Do you agree with Froy on this one?
Hey ChicagoStyx & gr8dane, I'm backYou guys must be thinking about me today -LOL
Or you knew I'd be here with Froy posting, hmmmmm

Yes, I'm going to back Froy up with this one and probably most of his posts when I go back and read them.
I guess it depends what people consider a "rock" show. Dennis' "Lost Treasures" shows are way more of a rock show than one of the recent Styx shows that I've seen. He just doesn't have the confetti shooting out of the cannons after the show. I consider Dennis' show's to be rock shows. The guitars are going the drums are drumming, keyboards keying rock show!
The Michael Bolton and Olivia Newton-John concerts, were not rock concerts.
I have no clue what you people on here consider a "rock" show anyway. Metallica is a rock show, Dream Theater was a rock show, even Paul McCartney was a rock show.
Okay Suite, and you too Napoleon “Froy” Dynamite. I never said Dennis did not preform rock songs at his shows but I know he does do a number of show tunes. I’ve seen his PBS show. Oh I think he cares. Oh most definitely yes! AND I think both "camps" are very aware of what each other is doing and track it very closely.
Now now,there there Suite.
All I am saying is, you cannot compare the TV screen to the real deal.
Can you???
Now Suite if you agree with froys review of something he has not seen in person, just because you have the same point of view ,I am tempted to call you shallow, and I don't want to that. Please don't agree with him on THAT point.
I have not reviewed Dennis's show, since I have not seen him live.
I have spoken about Mr.D's solo albums, and rated them, since those I have heard more than once.
I respect your review of Styx live because you have been there.Fair enough.
Froy only watched a shitty video and knows it all.

I dunno, gr8. I think you can tell a whole lot from a performance video or a live performance on TV. Sometimes you get the best seat in the house for that.
I have seen concert videos that are just stunning in how they sound and how well they convey the sense of the performance. And they make me want to see the person or group live.
And, conversely, I have seen some that make me realize I would NEVER want to go to see those performers in concert.
I will agree with you, though, that live does offer a different "feel" and you get unexpected changes etc. from show to show if you go to more than one.
There is also that intangible -- the audience, and how they get into it.

No you can't, I agree with you there. Except when Styx was on the Today show this year - ACK! ACK! ACK!Now Suite if you agree with froys review of something he has not seen in person, just because you have the same point of view ,I am tempted to call you shallow, and I don't want to that. Please don't agree with him on THAT point.
Ouch!! I don't want to be called shallow, even though that's the tamest then I've been called compared to what I've been called off-line![]()
I don't agree with EVERYTHING Froy says or posts(especially on the phone -), I'm still going through the posts on here.
I have not reviewed Dennis's show, since I have not seen him live.
You will in 2006. He'll be in your areaI hope you'll be able to make that concert and let me know what you think.

I have seen Styx FREE at least 3 times and part of 1 concert live.
Bugsy says:PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME TO EXPLAIN FROY!!!!
Sadie says:Somethings are better left unexplained
Thank you Suite.
I know you have seen them several times and you did not like them.Fine.
Now if you and froy was watching the video and you did not like that one.Fine
If froy had said the show he had seen at Ronald McDonald land was crap.Fine.
At least he had seen them, and until the day he reviews an actual show,he can not be taken seriously on that point.
Please explain Froy
I can't wait
