I see Andrew reacehed his limit with the Looney bin - a.k.a. he Journey board, and pulled the plug on it. A couple of observations - wishes I have as a result.....
#1A To all of you former Journey posters......we've seen in the past that some of you have made this your "home away from home" I'm not going to go quite as far as to say "Stay away" BUT, THE ANCTICS AND
BEHAVIORS THAT PUSHED ANDREW TO CLOSE YOUR FORUM ARE NOT WELCOME HERE !!! we're no angels, but I believe most of us truly appreciate our little board, and dont want to see it meet the same fate.
#1B This is a board about Styx, the vast majority here doesn't care about either Steve, Deen, Neal, or any of the other Journey incarnations.....if ya wanna come here, the topic is Styx, capish ? we frequently go off topic, but I think Journey related topics should be unwelcome here, and hope Andrew locks them immediately should they appear here.
2. I guess the ol' turtle ( our board) is gonna catch up to the Hare (that other board ) in number of posts......eventually, that is
That is all ( climbing off the soapbox now......)

There will be absolutely NO tolerance shown for anyone bringing Journey discussion into ANY other board.
Anyone disgregading this will be instantly deleted.

I will....STAY AWAY.
This forum is working brilliantly and serves as an example to those that cocked up the other forum.

Classic, I saw the boards close late last night, I remember what happened last time they were shut down - LOL
What timing on the Journey discussion, I'm listening to Journey right now, the Time 3 cds - LOL

Nice to see sometimes the adage about people not learning from history....
And now back to our regularly scheduled "discussions" about who slammed who, and who is better, who rocks more, who is more Broadway, and the important stuff...like the fact that Da Bearz open and close with the dreaded Pack.....

I certainly understand where you are coming from but this post is rather instigatory. I try to talk Styx when I am here. Sometimes the Journey talk has come from applicable comparisons. But this post just makes me want to say unpleasant things.

Journeyman,
Live within the spirit of what Andrew is saying. We talk about many other bands here other than Styx. We just don't want to turn it into the Journey forum and loose our little home here.
If you look throught the post from last summer, we were more than rough with the two sides, but nothing like some were over on the journey side.
Play along, add your 2 cents, and keep it within the spirit of this board which generally focusses on Styx.

Journeyman,
Sorry if my post made you want to say unpleasant things...and if it hurts your feeling to hear me say that your forum over there was a bit too inflammatory for my tastes, but.......it was. Granted, a handful of posters ruined it for the rest, but that is exactly my fear for this board. Im certainly not saying everyone over there was boorish and childish, but admit it.......some were.
Oh, and if you've read some of my other posts and past "conversations" with other Journey board people, you would realize I was holding back quite a bit with the previous post, if a flame war was part of my agenda, believe me, I could pour some gasoline on the fire ! But, Im not really in the mood for a flame war, and especially do not want to try our benevolent moderator/hosts patience right now.

Indeed. A gloating cheapshot and a thread all to it's own, to boot. Sorry, Andrew. Final post on the matter.

I love Journey, but I love to talk about Journey and their music !!
Moon Beam, are there any other better songs than "Lady" or "Crystal Ball" by Styx?? I think not !!
Those are in my top 10 !!

I am not sure that is true.
classicstyxfan wrote:and if it hurts your feeling to hear me say that your forum over there was a bit too inflammatory for my tastes, but.......it was.
It does not hurt my feelings at all. I am making no excuses for the things that have occurred on the Journey Forum.
classicstyxfan wrote: Granted, a handful of posters ruined it for the rest, but that is exactly my fear for this board. Im certainly not saying everyone over there was boorish and childish, but admit it.......some were.
Irrelevant. There are "bad apples" everywhere. And I have seen similar problems here. It is simply that "your community" learned to accept things while many in the Journey community could not. But none of that warrants this post. In fact, I think a welcoming of sorts would have served better than this.

I know. I have seen your "conversations". As I said, I understand your point. And I accept it. But I did not care for the manner in which it was presented. I did not intend to create tension, simply trying to say that even though some people do not act so "grown up" we are all adults here. You could have spoken as such!

I agree.
And, if the rule is to not bring this discussion to other forums, then Classic should have been the first one to get the axe.

I hardly think Andrew meant none of us could talk about journey within the context that this forum has in the past, instead he doesn't want the fighting to take over his other forums.
Use common sense when posting. I understand that is hard for some...

Sure Class.
Trying just for the hell of it to order tix for the 2 Rama shows ,it was not possible to get any for the Saturday show. For the Friday show, there was only seats way back available.
I think they sold about 10000 tix.
Soooo, they are huge in Barrie Canada.

gr8,
Does the venue hold 5000 a show or 10,000 a show?
And Styx always does well at the Rama shows. They always do 2 show s there and ticket sales are always strong from what I hear

The place has a 5000 capacity.(supposedly).When I was there the last time it sure looked 5grand.

The venue can hold 5,000 BUT they usually/sometimes have the upper seats closed off. I loved being backstage and in the rooms, pictures of Gowan all over - LOL Loved it!!
I absolutely LOVE Rama, I'd back up there in a heartbeat. I'd even take another road trip up there - LOL
I found this out, for tickets sales, you can never really count any Casino events. The casino has many give away tickets for their members, 100's and 100's of tickets.

Suite,
Every venue has comp tickets.
But you are true that many casinos save a certain percentage for their high rollers.
Not sure how much more than an average venue it is though.
but 5000 seats is 5000 seats, paid for or not.

I know, but the casino's have a lot more, a whole lot more, like a ton more.
but 5000 seats is 5000 seats, paid for or not.
Okay, I'll let it go on this one

I did not know that. But, it continues to be gloated upon...as represented by the post after yours.
I hardly think Andrew meant none of us could talk about journey within the context that this forum has in the past
That is not my complaint. I do not believe this changes how I post here. My complaint is that Classic has brought his personal issues with some Journey fans from the Journey forum and to THIS forum, and continues to do so. If the rule is to not do that, then he should be axed.
instead he doesn't want the fighting to take over his other forums.
and, threads like this ensure that it will.
Use common sense when posting. I understand that is hard for some...
and a nightmare for others.

Simmer down, people!! I don't think a little preemptive measure should be such an issue. It's like having a nice house next to a party house and the party house gets shut down. I don't think it's too much for the owners to ask for a little decorum, after seeing what went on next door.
BE NICE NEIGHBORS AND THE COPS WON'T HAVE TO BE INVOLVED!

As apposed to getting through life without publicaly gloating about others misfortune? I know this forum is used to boasting about insignificant things and propping up their opinions with insignificant and bloated 'facts'. But, now you are attacking other fans, of another band, AFTER the owner of the forum demanded that those arguments did not move to forums like this one.
You listen about as well as those in the Journey forum.
anyone want to change the topic and talk about music ?
Hey, I know, let's boast about Dennis' latest 'sell out'...and ignore the fact that it is less then 1000 tickets, and refuse to post that info when asked.

Oh good heavens.
I cannot believe this is going into 2 pages of responses now. The fact that in the past some people who usually posted on another forum brought their posts over here in the past, the fact that Classic asked that it not happen this time, the fact that some people in that forum as well as this one have past differences of opinions with each other....sheesh...I think we have all gotten too thin skinned.
Face it...for some...posting with vitriole is how they prefer to operate. Others loathe it.
By and large, this forum has had it's share of fights/disagreements/and off topic conversations. We have ebbs and flows. I'd also like to think a modicum of respect for each other...even when we disagree. But then again...I realize...respect and how you view it...totally subjective.
Given that there was a history of what Classic spoke about in his original post, I could see where he would ask for it not to happen again. That some don't like how he phrased it...well gee...I chalk that up to people being different...and that isn't going to change anytime soon.
As for the music...bring it on. Hopefully both Styx and Dennis...and Glen are all working on stuff we will enjoy.
Peace

Weee! I love how Glen, the guy whose presence didn't "make that much of an impact," is now sentenced to being a permanent part of the group, whether he likes it or not! haha...
BTW, I think what Andrew (and even Classic) were trying to say is that Journey forum-goers leave their Journey-related arguements out of the Styx forum. I seriously doubt anyone meant that Journey was to be the "band who shall remain un-named." Everone knows that's Triumph, anyway!
But yeah, Classic - perhaps it would have been better to leave the scolding for AFTER someone broke the rule instead of before.

I added that part just for you Zan...in the name of being fair to include all current and former members of course.
