from nick,
has there ever been an official live version of lights release on anything, video, cd singles, lp, it is one of my favorite songs and the only really good sounding live version i have is on a bootleg from 2002 from some casino, it sounds great, but it is a shorter version of the song, a verse is cut out, is there anything out there, that has the full song in great soundboard or broadcast quality, any info is appreciated

Well, no
official releases, but decent recordings of the tune circa 1979 do exist.

There are a few floating around ... the most common is the SF show.
And then there are variances - the early part of the tour w/o the horns and the later part with.

The only full show I've got is an audience recording from Phoenix. Sound quality varies from bad to not-as-bad, depending on how much bass is being pumped through the PA, but some worthwhile musical moments. "Why Me" with the horn section is a highlight. The recording cuts off after "Come Sail Away," which seems to be the end of the show proper...anybody know what they were using as an encore in 1979?

Thanks Thom, that is great to have.
BTW, I'm still listening to the SoN cd. My review is forthcoming. Until then let's just say I'm impressed.

Thanks Stabbim. Had this a while ago and lost it. Great to have it back.

SoN?
Sons of Nothing which is Thom's (Stabbim) band. They do a tribute Pink Floyd show and their own original stuff. I'm speaking about their latest CD.

You're welcome. Middling sound quality aside, I've always preferred this version of the song to the studio version. It has a lot more kick, and the keyboard sounds really sing out.

Cool, glad you're digging it.

Lights, Wow! That was one of the songs on the mix tapes I used to make up. My (then)girlfriend and I would just drive around and listen to them all night back in the 80s. We had my car(1976 Mustang) and we made the scene. Didn't give a damn about no gasoline!
Speaking of Mustangs, my longtime friend Sandra loved the Deset Moon video and was recently thrilled to hear that Dennis sang it in A.C. when we were all at that show this year.
