I'd bet $500 that froy will be there.

I would, too, were I not 1,000 miles away. Dennis sounds just as good as he did 30 years ago. The new record is the best material produced by anyone in the band since Cyclorama. Hopefully he'll get within four hours of North Carolina sometime.

A bit more info:

Revelers in Niagara Falls are going to party like they did back in 1980 this year on New Year's Eve.

Loverboy, Honeymoon Suite and Dennis DeYoung, the former front man for Styx, will hit the stage to help rock in the new year at Queen Victoria Park for the annual free concert.

"New Year's Eve is one of the busiest and best nights of the year," said Jim Williams, chair of the Niagara Parks Commission. "With the enthusiasm of all our partners, the whole city is coming alive with more to do than anywhere else in Canada."

Loverboy, based out of Calgary, formed in 1980 and sold millions of records in Canada and the U.S. with hit songs Working for the Weekend and Turn Me Loose that are still among the top arena rock songs. Loverboy released a new album in October.

As a founding member of Styx, Dennis DeYoung is one of the pioneers of synthesizers in rock and roll. The band released 13 albums from 1972 to 1999, spawning numerous hits, including Mr. Roboto in 1983, and selling out some of the largest venues in North American. DeYoung began his solo career in 1984 and released his latest album this year.

Homegrown rockers Honeymoon Suite are in the midst of a reunion tour. The band released 11 albums since its debut in 1984, including an anthology in 2006 celebrating hits like New Girl Now, Burning in Love, What Does it Take, Feel it Again ad Bad Attitude.

CHCH and CanWest Global affiliate stations will broadcast the event live from 11 p.m. Dec. 31 until 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1. Honeymoon Suite will warm up the stage starting at 8 p.m. and two fireworks displays will light up the sky at 9 p.m. and midnight.

The free concert usually attracts 30,000 people each year. It's the third time Niagara Parks has organized the event since it took it over from the Winter Festival of Lights in 2005 when it decided to focus resources on lighting displays.

The concert will also include an outdoor licensed area and food ad beverage vendors, another addition to the event Niagara Parks made when it took over.

Still ---- burrrrrrr!

It won't be free if you live in the States and you don't have a passport yet.
Starting January 1st the new federal law kicks in, stating you'll need a passport to get back into the States.
Maybe it's just the excuse I need to get one.

Not a challenge for a true Deyoungian to see Dennis on New Year's Eve in Buffalo. I expect you'll see Higgy there. Now this slam is tongue in cheek. I hope you'll refrain from posts about where the current band called Styx plays.

Holy Crap!!!

I might even be able to watch this Concert NYE, before we have our NYE party (Alberta is two hours behind Ontario.. so when they celebrate NY, I'll be still tying one on!

Hmmm Dennis Deyoung and Honeymoon Suite touring together.. That would be a package that would sell well ACROSS Canada, in your 1500-5000 barns.. Quebec, that might just be enough to have the 5000-10 000 venue sold.

Tim Orchard should look into that..

There's a nice hotel package that I like and I've been looking into airflights :)

I LOVE HONEYMOON SUITE & LOVERBOY!!! O - M - G !!!!

Ah, an outdoor concert!! You just have to dress warm and be near a lot of body heat...............

I never thought in a million years that all my favorite bands would be performing at the same concerts!! Rik opening for Dennis in Atlantic City, Night Ranger opening Florida, now this - Unbelievable!!! Roger Hodgson & Dennis on Canadian Idol!!

Sheesh, all I need is Steve Perry and Dennis to be performing at the same concert - - and I think all my favorites will be covered!!!

:D

Huge Canadian headling event.
Possibility of playing before 30,000.
Televised nationally throughout Canada.

Yeah. That sounds pretty "desperate." :D

I thought they meant "desperate times for desperate measures" in regards to travelling and seeing this show, not the show/venue that Dennis is playing.

If the weather is around 32F or 0C mark, then you'll get a huge crowd.. If it's -15C with a windchill, you may not see as many people there.

Its all dependent on the weather!

Changing gigs, but I assume that Jack Blades will be with Night Ranger when they open up for DDY.

Jack will be coming off of his tour with Tommy supporting 'Influence'.

It really makes me wonder if Tommy somehow will find a way to check out this gig(Styx is playing the same night in S. Carolina).

I honestly believe that it wont be toooo long before we see Dennis, Glen and Tommy up on stage together.

If you are flying into Canada, you need a passport.

Just heard on the radio that if you are driving across the border you need 1) Photo Id 2) Proof of citizenship.

So get your drivers licences and birth certificates ready folks!

Here in Toronto they use 'Too much time on my hands ' to advertise the show.Tommy's singing all over.
Kinda ironic.

I watched it last night. Dennis had just under 40 mins (including commercials) and sang 5 songs.
I enjoyed a couple of close up camera work of the new drummer. I like his sound a lot better than the previous one.
The highlight was Come Sail Away. The massive croud loved it and it was done very well. The crowd also loved Roboto. Babe was the weakest IMO (I think its too slow for this type of event) - though there were some couples lapping it up.
Suzanne looked absolutely freezing in the cold - the others looked like the cold did not phase them.

It was mostly for Canadian stations, Global Tv affiliates through your local company in Canada, or have a dish and have Bell Express (same as dish network). It may have been on some local NY stations that carried the feed but not sure.

If you are on Bell, it should have been on 218 which is E. http://www.canada.com/ch/chchnews/index.html

Not sure what station that would be on a local provider.
