Maybe it's Tommy's new solo band?
;)

Sounds great.

That's not saying much for the current line up of styx.....the fact that it took the ENTIRE TRANS SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA to get back to sounding like Styx did with Dennis Deyoung LOL. But STILL a great video. (anyone got "renegade" that immediately followed"?

Blue Collar Man version # 119.

Look for this new version on Styx's new 10 CD box set.

This box set will contain all 119 versions of Blue Collar Man including the hard to find Tommy Shaw, Elmo & Cookie Monster singing this Styx classic .

Plus this box set will also include Styx/ Gowan's remake of Leo Sayers epic song Endless Flight, and Styx & JY's rendition of GNR's You Could Be Mine.

Actually, word is it will be a part of "Blue Collar Man: The Ultimate Collection" boxed set.

Oh yes, definitely. Right on. That makes perfect sense in every way. LOL.

Not to be blunt, but what the fuck was Tommy going to do? "She Cares"? Let's see, TS is going to guest. Let's do obscure Styx shit - NOT. The obvious choices are "Fooling Yourself", "Blue Collar Man", and "Renegade".

Tommy seems more interested here than he did when I saw Styx a few months ago. I honestly believe even if it's the same songs, he enjoys the challenge and gets a kick in the pants from new musicians. Plus, this is basically his home crowd, so why wouldn't Tommy be into it?

It's also interesting to see TS playing a PRS - haven't seen him whip one out in awhile. As for TS playing the solo in "Renegade", I mean the man did write the song. He came out of it a bit funky, but it's live.

I saw him play the PRS in Salt Lake a few months back.

Nah. I would argue - and have - that TS would do better singing some of DDY's songs than Lawrence.

Tommy sings Come Sail Away pretty well. I think the problem stems from him not being able to sing almost every song at the concert. They had to get someone to give him a break.

This was the set list from Merryville recently. It clearly shows how they pace the lead singers on the set.

BLUE COLLAR MAN (Tommy)

GRAND ILLUSION (Larry)

LORELEI (JY)

ONE WITH EVERYTHING (Tommy)

LADY (Larry)

TOO MUCH TIME (Tommy)

SNOWBLIND (JY)

WALRUS (Larry)

BOAT ON THE RIVER (Tommy)

CRYSTAL BALL (Tommy)

SUITE MADAM BLUE (Larry)

FOOLING YOURSELF (Tommy)

MISS AMERICA (JY)

COME SAIL AWAY (Larry)

EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME (Tommy)

RENEGADE (Tommy)

This is great. I saw TSO a couple of weeks ago and couldn't help but think what they would sound like covering the classics with guest vocals from the original bands. Their stage and light show are awesome and their musicianship top notch.

It's ironic Tommy did this as Styx and Kansas were the two bands I thought most of while at the concert.

I'd love to hear an entire set with guest appearances from the likes of Shaw, DDY, Paul Rogers, Steve Walsh, Robert Plant, and Steve Perry...err...Steve Augeri...er...JSS...er...Arnel...ah...never mind.

Who's larry? lol j/k. Good it looks like to put snowblind back in. Nothing against midnight ride it's just snowblind is a more well known song. Although I do admit it was pretty cool seeing larry on guitar.

That is supposed to be released at the same time as the "We've been married for 30 Years" Box Set, right? I think there's also a "We Had Dreams" box set coming too.

I can see that happening...but I've seen styx with dennis....and then styx with lawrence...and I think just about anyone BUT lawrence could sing dennis' songs better than lawrence. Gowan sounds like he's singing with a closepin on his nose..

but I'm partial...I saw them with dennis, that will always be "Styx" to me...
