OK, this thread is proof positive I have too much time on my hands.......

Your Mission, if you choose to accept it, is to put together a release featuring new ( 21st century )music made by Styx/DDY to be sent back in a time machine to be released after POE but before Cornerstone.....

Ideally, your release will have a balance of DDY/TS/and JY compositions roughly equal to the ratio that would be consistant with what a Styx release in that time period would have......or tweak it in whatever manner you wish.

what tracks would you include to ensure it would be multi platinum, as were the releases of that Era ?

Yeah but you have to admit DDY's new CD has a lot of solid rockers and NO show tunes on it!

There's only like 3 songs that I contstantly skip because well, they are really bad songs (sorry but I did say PASS on three of them) but the other songs on his CD.. A must for all Styx fans of any generation/lineup.

That sounds like another great idea.. mix tunes from this CD and Cyclorama together to get a kick ass Styx CD!

I can live with that.It is not as bad as reading the same answers to different questions.

To try to get as close in style to "classic" Styx as possible:

That's trying to get a cross-section of writers, styles and singers. Looking at the list, I'm struck by how few of the great songs from the past few years are Tommy's, at least in my view. I'd really love to see him re-visit his strengths, and in my opinion his great strength is in writing 3-4 minute pop-rock songs like "Renegade", "Blue Collar Man", and "Too Much Time". We haven't had an "Outsider", "Are You Ready For Me", "Coming of Age", "Come Again", or even "All In How You Say It" in years. For my money Tommy has gotten sidetracked writing these longer, somewhat meandering, mid-tempo quasi-prog things like "Everything All The Time" and "Just Be", when that is not his great strength. Who agrees or disgrees with that? I'm just curious, not trying to start some flame war.
