Coffee Fool

The Rock Star Coffee Line: When our friend Tommy Shaw slipped some of our rockin’ coffee into the coffee machine on the Styx Tour bus, all of the members found their inner Coffee Fool. So much so, they wanted us to create a Styx special brew. Billy Bob Thornton has also been a fan of our seductively smooth coffees for some time, so we're makin' a brew for his reckless hillbilly band The Boxmasters. Both special brews will be available April 10th.

Sponsoring the Tours... We're as passionate about music as we are about coffee. We're now touring with established groups, like Styx, and also seeking to help young acts to get out on the road. Look for our custom wrapped busses as they crisscross the USA. You can find out more and get regular updates on our My Space page.

This Coffee Tastes Like Styx
Rock Java From Billy Bob Thornton's Boxmasters and Other Music-Branded Brew

If you're looking for some java with a little less hellfire than Dave Mustaine's Legends Cup coffee, CoffeeFool has a few lighter rock roasts to start your day. We're angling for some samples, but in the meantime, here's the descriptions and some wild guesses about what to expect when you crack these bags open.

The Styx Special Brew actually seems pretty dark, sorta like "Kilroy Was Here"; it's an Italian-roast that promises a "unique energy that'll keep your buds sufficiently confused, but coming back ... no ... begging for more." Expect proggy notes and a lingering aftertaste well after you thought the song should have been over.

Perhaps the most interesting of the two brews is the Boxmasters Special Brew. Who is that you ask? It's Billy Bob Thornton's band, of course! But maybe you've never heard of them because they don't actually have an album out yet. Could this be the first artist tie-in before said artist has actually done anything? We're not totally sure what it'll sound like, but maybe we can extrapolate from the description of their coffee:

Eclectic Kona blend that reeks diner waffle batter with smokey undertones. You know, the kind of joint you'd hand out in Saturday morning, the day after. Fire it up when you're ready to recover like a true hillbilly, or brew it if you just wanna honky tonk your time away.

Yes, this is hangover coffee, maybe another first? We'll give you some more-qualified opinions if the CoffeeFool people will be nice enough to ship us some ....

so either this coffe company believes the Demographics of Styx fans is in line with their target market, enough so that they are willing to use their advertising money this way ,

OR

they've found some loophole that enables them to do a tax write off on the funds spent. Hmmmmmm.......

with no more Lawrence Welk shows to sponsor, Geritol needs a new Lawrence.....

Last night before the gates opened at the Styx show, I wandered up to the merch table. Keith Marks was back there hockin' this coffee...he was telling this lady about it and she was saying she didn't have a bean grinder. He dug around and found an already ground bag and brought it to her...then she informed him she didn't have a coffee maker! He goes, "I can't even give this shit away!". I asked him if he was replacing Casey and he laughed and said no, he hadn't see what was for sale for the past couple months and came to take a look. He turned around, looked at the board for a second, turned back, said, "Ok, I'm bored" and walked out!

He's hilarious!

You know what...I was going to, along with a sweatshirt, but I was going to do it after the show because I didn't want to carry it around all night. Two songs into the show, a big storm came through and delayed the show for 45 minutes. They started up again, but Casey wrapped it up and called it a night early and was closed when the show was over. :(

Is it? I looked for a price, but they didn't have one displayed. As a non coffee drinker, it would be purely "because it has Styx's name on it" kinda souvenier. Is it any good?

Thanks Stacey!! I think Barbara and Holly are going to see them on the 13th, I might have them pick me up something. They have a really cool brown sweatshirt with the logo on the back I was looking at.

Honestly, I've never tried it, but knowing how finicky Tommy is about his coffee, I imagine it's pretty good. In fact, the whole Styx organization seems to be pretty picky about their coffee (the ones who drink it, anyway). There used to be a working link on styxworld.com for it, but I see it's down at the moment. I went to coffeefool.com and checked out their prices, and some of it runs about $35 for 8 friggin ounces (of course, that's for Jamaican Blue Mountain brand, which is supposedly the shiznit).

Maybe when I'm taking home the kinda money Styx is per gig... Right now, Starbucks will have to suffice.

*edit*

OK, I went back and checked some more. They do hae brands that run around $14 for 12 oz. (Still a wee bit high for me, but much better.

Especially if you're not going to actually drink it! lol! Eventually, if it doesn't sell, they will have to have a clearance since it is a consumable item...don't ya think? lol!

That's ok, I got an even better momento of the concert. It was at Harrahs casino and they have an outdoor concert series in the summer and make commemorative $5 chips of all the artists. I got one of Styx. If they would have been $1 chips I would have snagged a bunch more!

I ordered some when it first came out... paid $18 & change, including shipping (cheaper to order it than to purchase at a show for $20! LMAO). I thought it was very good and will order it again some time, although I do like my Kauai Peaberry coffee from World Market better. LOL!
