New lineup for Def Leppard concert?
by The Grand Rapids Press Wednesday May 07, 2008, 6:01 PM

Press music writer John Sinkevics is reporting today in his Sound Check blog that Styx is NOT playing with Def Leppard on the rescheduled Aug. 15 date at Van Andel Arena. And, according to Arena officials, the jury is still out the status of REO Speedwagon?

Sink said he received an e-mail from Styx's management, stating the band would not be in Grand Rapids.

He also reported that Billy Idol was added to the bill as an opening act for Def Leppard.

I wish Styx would quit ALL of the dates

IMHO, outside of whatever $$ they're raking in, agreeing to be fodder on this tour was the worst move that New Styx has made in eons.

In the early 70's, Styx incessently toured their way to eventual super stardom. In the late 90's through today, they're incessently touring their way to irrelevance.

Styx has not been a major act since 1983 and not because your hero is missing. Your hero is a major reason they did not have a chance to be considered among the greatest of all rock bands. He was selfish. Go blame him.

The question was, who has had more Billboard top 10 singles, Journey or Styx?

I said that there was no doubt that it was definitely Journey...Unfortunately I was dead wrong!! You would have thought that Journey had way more top 10 singles than Styx, but no...

Styx has had 8, Journey has had 6.

Styx - Lady, Babe, Come Sail Away, The Best of Times, Too Much Time On My Hands, Mr. Roboto, Don't Let It End, Show Me The Way

Selfish?
Any JY tunes on there?

After reading Sterling's book, I must respectfully disagree. All 3 of them were the reason they are not considered among the greatest of rock bands - From what I surmised from the book it was equal parts of Dennis's control and manipulation, Tommy's substance abuse and looking out for number one, and JY's mean spirited "legalese" and "business acumen" (that ironically was so helpful early on). All 3 egos and all 3 were equally to blame...

To say it is one individual is completely ignorant of the facts that led to the way the relationship is the way it is today.. Read Sterling's book

Yet Journey still outsold Styx 2 to 1 there Froy, are you going to blame JY for that?

Worldwide, there's more people that know about Journey then they do about Styx..
