Hi:

Wanted to let everyone know that Part One of my in-depth interview with Jack Blades is now up at We Will Rock You http://www.wewillrockyoublog.com/2009/1 ... -part-one/

In this segment we discuss the upcoming Night Ranger/REO/Styx tour; the set list for that tour; what songs he and Tommy Shaw have been working on for another Shaw Blades record, Influence II; Jeff Watson working with Dennis DeYoung; Jack’s forthcoming second solo record; his philosophy of songwriting and trying to grow musically while balancing that against fan expectations; producing Vince Neil’s upcoming solo album; and why being an artist, singer and musician is an advantage to him as a producer.

Thanks!

Sterling

"Inluence II"- COME ON

Please give us some new SHAW/BLADES stuff. I don't need to hear "Tiny Dancer". No offense, but the covers are just not what I want from these guys.... Their first album was SO good and now it's just covers? Jack, Tommy- you guys are two of the best writers in rock and for you guys not to be doing your tunes is just a crime.

Ok ok, I'll still buy it but, Man, I want new SB stuff.

Let us know when you post Part II. It would've been cool to ask him what he thought of doing the Ringo band that he did a few years ago.

I meant to ask that but just didn't get to it in the time allotted. But yeah, I know what you mean about more covers . . . but I also understand that the only reason the last SB album and tour did as well as it did is because it was covers. New material from that act wouldn't have a strong enough commercial toehold for a label to support, in my opinion. So for them to do it, they need to go with what's working. I can see the wisdom in that. I'm not a huge fan of covers records, but 'Influence' was way better than most and the live show was outstanding.

I hope all is well.

Then the labels needs to pull their head out. Seriously- does this mean now that ALL artists need to just do covers because the RECORD COMPANIES ARE TOO STUPID TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MARKET THE STUFF?

Ugh, insanity.

Heres an idea:

10 Cover songs - Exactly what we got on Influence

10 Orginal songs

1 DVD(Live) of their past Influence concert.

Journey did pretty well with this idea.

Hell as short as the first Influence CD was, you could have gotten 10 more orginal songs on the same 80 minute disc.

They are too damn good together to be just a covers group.

Well yeah, I heard they DID film the Influence shows. This'd be a great way to market the new album.
