Well knowing that Ted Nugent, Styx and Night Ranger were all booked at NAMM by other companies, why not?

Well, I guess you're well on your way to alienating every single person on this board. BTW, why do you capitalize every word of JY's not-very-clever quote? Is he writing a book with that title?

Not that it's any of your business but it's my favorite quote. And i also really don't give a shit if you don't like it. Deal with it

Wish I didn't dislike (mild term) Ted Nugent so much, 'cause this is a decent song.

Doesn't matter how many hits they had. They friggin rocked and Tommy and Jack sound amazing together. Both DY albums kick ass in my opinion. Listen to Mister Please on Don't Tread (which was another rock hit) and tell me that band isn't great.

I just looked it up. DY had 7 top ten hits on the mainstream rock charts. Which by the way gets more listens probably than the Pop charts.

Come again...5
Coming of age...1
High enough...2
Runaway...9
Don't Tread on me...3
Mr. Please...3
Where you goin now...6

Silence is broken peaked at number 20.

So what would happen if damn yankees make it to the rock hall of shame before styx? JY would be plenty pissed then a reunion would probably be guaranteed imo.

My first thought was that it would never happen, and it probably won't, but is Nugent in there?

Aren't you the idiot that just said that they were one hit wonders earlier in the line of posts? And now you want them in the ROR hall of fame? What is your deal?

Pop charts have much more listeners than rock charts. Significantly more. The only hits that DY had on the pop charts were High Enough and Where you going now. Of the others, the only one with staying power was Coming of Age.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, because neither one has any realistic shot whatsoever; at least not while the Hall of Fame is run by the people currently running it. And really, Damn Yankees was a great band of a certain type, but come on people, let's get serious, it's not Hall of Fame material. It's a band with two records, for chrissakes. Successful, but nobody could argue that it's all that important, and it arguably wouldn't have had the success it did have without the past success of the guys involved.

I hope all is well.

I don't disagree with anything you wrote, but the Hall has put quite a few acts in the Hall that are basically one hit wonders from the 60's. There are quite a few acts that didn't have one much less 2 albums that actually charted. I can live with the fact Styx will never be in the Hall except for some of the crap they have let in.

rock charts vs. pop charts.

I'm not sure about that. I think there are more rock stations than pop stations. I could be wrong. I know where I live there has ALWAYS been 4 or 5 rock stations and 1 or 2 pop stations.

I can only say that record companies and management always want to try to cross over to pop and Top 40 radio when they can because it drives way bigger sales. Top 40 is where the big numbers and big money are. It's just understood, from a promotional perspective, that's the way it is. The rock charts are a lesser indicator of real world success. Certainly in the case of Damn Yankees, look back at the chart run of the first album and compare it with the singles at the time, there's absolutely no denying that the major sales thrust of that album happened simultaneously with the Top 40 success of "High Enough". The other songs garnered rock radio exposure but that one was the bona finde hit that has real mainstream recognition. From the second album there really isn't a genuine real-life hit even though "Don't Tread" placed on rock radio and a couple of others held positions. They did not drive sales, the abum fizzled very quickly and barely made Gold. I know a friend of mine at radio told me the record was dead less than month after it came out. It only did as well as it did because of momentum. Realistically most people only know "High Enough" from that band, and maybe in some areas "Coming of Age". And in all sincerity I bet most people could identify those songs, but not name the band that performed them.

That's absolutely true, but if you look at the bands that are in there that aren't justified by real success, the reason they are there is because critics support them. That is not the case with Damn Yankees. Critics hate Styx, hate Night Ranger and hate Nugent, so DY has no shot. Plus the fact that it really is not that important a group, LOL. That's a band that I like but at the same time I can see clearly that it doesn't belong. Hell, as much as I like Styx I'm not sure Styx belongs in the Hall of Fame. There are a lot of bands that should go in way before, like Yes for instance. Styx is way down the list for me even though I obviously like the band a lot. When they put in Yes, Rush, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, KISS, ELP, Humble Pie, Alice Cooper, Linda Ronstadt . . . then we'll talk about Styx, LOL. Plus Wenner will have to die first. Until that happens, Feargal Sharkey has a better shot. Or Falco. Or Tiffany. Or Vanilla Ice.

I don't think the band Chicago is even in there, or if they are, it must be fairly recent. Maybe to most people they haven't done anything worthwhile for 37 years(lol), but come on, even they should be in there before Styx. I mentioned Nugent because I didn't know he was hated by the critics, and for a moment, thought that a connection to him might do something for DY, but I guess not, apparently.
