Embrace the Past

Styx needs to finally embrace the past and realize that the SOUND of Styx is what made them popular. I have attempted to accept Larry Gowan's vocals as a new direction for the band, but I can not do it any longer. If they do not ask Dennis to return to the fold or find someone that sounds like Dennis then I am done.

I am not a lurcher.

I'm sure they realize it, they just don't want to accept it. It was the uniqueness of the classic line up which made them famous. Without that it's really a shadow of what it was. Same thing can be said for Dennis attempt to recreate it as well.

i love this version of the band. they rock and that is all i ask for... i'm tired of the past. the past was great.. but its the past. i am looking towards the future. i dont want to be that 16 year old kid any more.. i have grown up and changed. that is what i expect of my favorite bands. i dont want the same old same old every year (AC/DC). It's ok ok to like what you like.. but dont dog some of us that love this.

Have you been to any classic shows outside of AC/DC?!? The only thing that may change is a lead singer or two?!?
Course, if you've been out of this world for some time ...it's probably all new to you!!

No offense, that's what I was thinking. They're doing all songs of the past, nothing new. Not the latest special tour, most of their recent tours. They don't have a "new" album to promote. Foreigner does.

I am sure they will read this post and after deep thought, bring Dennis back. Or, they might just ignore it.

Not to mention that they haven't done anything creative with the material from the past. This GI\PO8 mini tour is a day late and a dollar short when it comes to being creative. Gee, lets copy what a lot of other classic bands have done. Weak.

Seems to be working. If they didn't think that larry was working they would've fired him a LONG time ago. Get over it folks

Unless they know that if they fired him no one else would want to join this shell of a once great band.

You know it totally pisses the band off when people do all the DDY stuff, especially at shows. It's not going to change their minds, so why continue to do it? If you don't dig this band, don't buy tickets, but to constantly piss and moan... my god, find something else to do folks. Life's too short- a fact that I'm well aware of lately.

Im glad it pisses them off they deserve it. To just destroy a band that millions of fans once loved is horrific, They think they can just erase Dennis and all the fans of the real STYX no way, Keep it up .

they didn't "destroy" anything Froy. If you like the originals, play the crap out of the old albums. To MANY Dennis destroyed Styx as a ROCK BAND. Those fans either rolled with it or bailed out. They don't show up at Dennis' gigs and say "You ruined Styx. Wahhh!" It's ridiculous and accomplishes nothing but makes the crap thrower look stupid. Look at Everett heading to the DeYoung show and making an ass out of himself (I like Everett btw, just like I like you), but all it did was create a little spot of crap at a Dennis show and the guy nearly got beat up (or so the story goes). Why would anyone choose to do this stuff? Ridiculous. Dennis (and Styx) have enough to worry about without the psychosis of a few fan(atic)s.

I'm sure their skin is thick enough by now. They chose this type of career. They chose the wrong one if they can't take the bad with the good. Maybe it pisses them off because they want to forget just how much of DDY's contributions made Styx successful. If the number of people who feel Styx without DDY is not Styx is so small then it really shouldn't appear on their radar. The fact is that they will never escape DDY's shadow, the time has passed for that to happen. They have done nothing to set them apart from what Styx was when DDY was in the band.

And i agree with all you have said bry :D Life is just to short to keep up with this crap. I enjoy DDY and his music. But i love this Styx too.And they can put on one hell of a show.
