OT - hey Sterling, good Stryper interview

Good interview with Michael Sweet. The Covering is the best cover album I have ever heard. Stryper & Styx have been my two bands for years. Both literally changed my life.

Thanks Mike! Michael Sweet is a nice guy. I really enjoyed talking to him.

You know what, I'm not a big fan of covers records as a rule, but if you're into rock covers records, in all sincerity 'The Covering' is definitely one of the better ones. Way, way, way better than I figured it would be. The band all played together on the ground tracks, which I think makes a big difference. And it only cost 20-30 thousand to record, so they can still make a nice profit. I wish more bands would plan their new albums like that and make it viable to record quality new work. It can still be done.

I hope you're doing well.

Yeah, I have "The Covering" and it is one of the best cover albums in a long time. I'm not all that familiar with Sweet's "Set Me Free" but the Stryper version rocks. Whole disc is good. VH's "On Fire" really good too.

I'm going to be seeing Stryper here in Nashville on Friday and I am really looking forward to it. I've not seen them since their "In God We Trust" tour so I'm going to re-live part of my youth. Also trying to see more concerts this year. Was one of my resolutions! :)

On top of being a top-notch singer, Sweet is also a pretty good guitar player.
