Ya know I really enjoy "Sepent Is Rising", always have since I first discovered the RCA reissue in 1980.



It wasn't until around 87 I even knew it had a different cover. What a great album, I know the band doesn't care for it. And I was reading some info about this album and it said to date it has still sold less than 100,000 copies. I find that hard to believe after 40 years that it has sold less than 100,000.

I too liked the Serpent album.

To this day I think ' Young Man' is JY's best ever Styx led song. Always loved the song 'The Serpent is Rising' JC's best work as he sounded like Kurt Cobain & The Grove of Eglantine is a good DDY song. It's a good album.

To me it's not hard to believe. When you consider that the early albums were released by such a small label as WN. At the time they spent very little money to promote their artists. Then take into account that Styx was their most well known artist and when they left for A&M the company basically folded. It wasn't until Styx became a hot act that RCA reissued the WN recordings. It would be interesting to know what the sales numbers were for just the reissues.
