And this why artists aren't as motivated to create and release music anymore. As soon as they do, it's put out online for illegal free access. Hurting the artist's ability to earn a living for their efforts.

Universal Music put the songs on YouTube. Must be part of marketing. If the record company puts them out then I think the artist gets credit for each play.

It's also on Spotify. That's how I listened to it today. Will most likely be buying this album.

Correct. All plays count and like Spotify funds are paid out. Any "fan made" tracks have been blocked by UMe.
