Styx Tour - It's Official

For those who wanted to see Styx tour with Ted Nugent & Night Ranger, it's not going to happen. From what I read, Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw wanted this to happen, but it came down to money. This is from a recent interview with Jack Blades.
We have recently read that there is a possibility of Night Ranger, Ted Nugent and Styx touring together in 2004, what can you tell us about that?
I know that would have been great but the powers that be screwed that one up ... too bad some people don't have the fans best interest at heart ... just money.
It's official that they'll be touring part of their tour with Peter Frampton and special guest Nelson.
See, I can give both Dennis & Styx updates

So who was / were the money grubbers ? did ol' Ted hold out for more cash ? Perhaps JY felt it wasn't money worthy of his "reluctant legend" status ???
just who are these "powers that be" that Tommy and Jack couldn't convince to take a smaller cut ?

I
think it could've been JY, Ted or maybe the Styx management. I know Ted's very busy with his projects so he probably couldn't commit to a tour (and you know Carrot Styx LOVES to tour-LOL), I'm not sure money would've been an issue with him. So it would be either JY or the Styx management. From what I know, Night Ranger's managers are pretty easy going, so who really knows.
I was surprised to still hear that Peter Frampton was still going tour with them or at least commit to a summer tour. He cancelled all his recent Europeon dates due to the death of his drummer.
As for Nelson, hmmmm, I know they have a following, but I was surprised to hear that they'll be touring with Styx and Frampton.
Should be interesting.
Sorry, Yoga, I do not have a "paid" membership over at the Styx Lounge

Yo Man Hands,
My 'PAID' Styx Lounge membership came about as a direct consequence of 'Uncle Dennis'. Heres how. I was putting money aside to take my wife to see 'The Hunchback' whenever it got to Broadway or at least close to where I live. I waited, and waited, and waited....No Hunchback. So what I did was I took that money, and first I purchased a book on genalogy to see if there was any way the members of Styx and I were related. I did find out I was related to 'Yaz', the guy who performed motercycle stunts for the band. Small world huh? My next purchase was the Disney version DVD of "the Hunchback of Notre Dame', I felt this purchase was only fitting. What do you think? I still had some cash left so I decided to purchase Yoko's book so I could hear some new'fresh' DDY music, plus I wanted to put some money in 'Uncle Dennis's pocket. 'Aunt Dawn' sure could use a new bra. The remaining 30 dollars I had left was burning this hole in my pocket. It was only then I decided to join the other 450 plus members in the 'PAID' portion of Styxworld.

Well it's good to see you spent your money wisely Yogi. Let us know about your Gold Circle tickets to catch Nelson this summer.
But in all seriousness, you could actually attempt to make a post without the "humor" every once in a while.

Yoga, I'm proud of you for being a "paid" member. Way to go. And a big
Thank You for explaining how you saved your little $30.00 to pay for the membership, I really appreciate your honesty. That's too bad that you found out that you weren't related to any of the members of Styx. I thought for sure with your wonderful personality that you would be related to JY in some way.

Uncle Ted probrably wanted enough money to cover child support for the rest of his life.

Hey Yogi,
If I had a nickle for everytime you mentioned the Bra-less Dawn or Dawn needs a bra, my membership dues at the Styx Lounge would be paid in full..It is obvious when you go to a Dennis concert where your attention is.. I hope your wife isn't reading any of your posts...

If one of the Nelson sisters errr brothers left the band would they still be Nelson? What if the one who left started his own band. Who is the rightful Nelson?? Three things Man Hands forgot to report. First off, Tommy actually had written their hit 'Hole In My Heart' way back in the early 70's its title then was ' Ive Got the Groundhog Blues'. Second, This tour which is to be called 'Classic Rocks Show Me The Way Music Festival' is being sponsered by Doublemint Gum. (Look for 'Gowan' to be singing Styx's Show Me The Way.) Finesse wanted to sponser this event, but it was deemed a conflict of intrest. Finally, after their Detroit Joe Louis performance Tommy's wife is going to cut The Nelson Brothers hair. There will be updates when Tommy posts on Styxworld. To see the actual pictures though you will have to join the Lounge.

Yo Scott,
You were once 'The DDY and Styx 5.0 GUY. You said you enjoyed the humor and thought people should 'lighten up' on this board even if it was'your guy' getting slammed. What happened????? Are you now an accountant???

Suite thanks for the update....isn't just interesting that Jack Blades mentions that some people do not have the fans best interest at heart and guess what??? By definition Dennis Deyoung has absolutely nothing to do with it. Blame Ted if you will, but there may just be somebody in the current STYX camp that is at fault here...
Peter Frampton I understand. This guy is a great guitarist if any of you have ever seen him live, the man could play do you feel like we do and leave and I would be satisfied...it is one of the Classic Rock greats. I even forgive him for that massacare of a movie Sgt Pepper....still pissed at the Bee Gees though.
Nelson???? Can anybody shed light on that one? who is next the Hanson bros? Maybe Nu Shooz or Flock of Seagulls....Just leave the twin bill as it is.

You're welcome and I have to agree, it has to be someone from the Styx camp. Wow, I can't believe they didn't somehow blame Dennis
I've seen Peter Frampton several times now. No offense, I think he's a great guitarist and a very nice guy, but I'll pass on seeing him for a while.
I still can't figure out how Nelson ended up on that bill - LOL Nothing against those kids, but it's kind of comical.
Hey, what's wrong with the Flock of Seagulls? Just Kidding. They're going to be on VH1's "Bands Reunited" again this Saturday night. I missed it before, I'll have to make sure I tape it this time - LOL

Yogi,
Please remember that even bean counters need love too.
I do enjoy the humor here, yours included. But I must admit that some of your posts let's just say "meander" in and out of the realm of being clever. Thats all. No offense right?
By the way, my post was dry humor depending on how you looked at it. The fact that I signed off "Lylab" should have been the giveaway.
No hard feelings or feeling hard ons O.K.?

NEVER any hard feelings. To each his own right? So what happened to The DDY and Styx5.0 guy????

man... sign of the times... I actually thought the comment about "DDY and The Styx 5.0 Guy" was a play on "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy" and was looking for the humor or some kind of back handed comment......
I think it's comical that Styx will share the stage with Nelson.
Also - if Terrible Ted was to blame (and I mean Terrible in a complimentry way) then why isn't Night Ranger going on with Styx? Frankly I'd LOVE to see Night Ranger.... "Neverland" and "Seven" are friggan GREAT records. "Sea Of Love" is classic Night Ranger and "My Elusive Mind" is the name of my blog

Ash,
Way back in the good ol' days of '03 my tagline used to read "The Styx 5.0 and DDY Guy." Mostly due to the fact that at the time Cyclorama had just come out and the two camps were divided pretty sharply. I was trying to stradle the fence and get along with everyone...
Well we all know the adage of trying to please all the people all time.
Anyway fast forward through a couple of months of DDY bashing by the Styx 5.0 camp and upon the release of "Styx-Rockers" the deletion of DDY from the collective memories of Nu Styx was complete. Such was my ire that I changed the tagline from Styx 5.0 to Classic Styx.
Besides I would have had to change it anyway by now. The Styx Mach Syx guy just doesn't have that same ring to it, does it?
How about the Styx Mach Syx sux dy...... Well I better not go there.
Have a great weekend,
Scott

Ash,
I agree wholeheartedly about Neverland and Seven. Unfortunately, the last two times I saw Night Ranger, they didn't play any new stuff! Not that I don't like their old stuff, but I really wanted to hear some of the newer stuff live. Oh well.

It wasn't his drummer, but Bob Mayo [keyboards] that died. May he rest in peace.

You are right Suite, at least Flock had one song..."and I RAN is better than IRAQ....hey that's not how it goes...what was Nelson's hit tune, or did they have one. I know they can do some of dad's tunes on stage. Actually I always liked Garden Party.

I remember (barely) seeing them with Cinderella and Lynch Mob back in the early 1990s at Hershey Park arena..... very forgettable act.
Of course, both of them could kinda pass for a younger version of Tommy Shaw - so maybe they have the "tommy droolers" getting all excited.
<smartasscomment>It'd likely be good for the groupie scene too. </smartasscomment>
I wonder who they'll get for the next tour? Firehouse (Baby Don't Treat Me Bad), Alias (I Need You Now), Sheriff (When I'm With You), or some other one hit wonder of the pre-grunge age.
lord I got up on the wrong side of the bed today

From what I understand, the main Styx tour will be with Nelson and Frampton. Styx also has a couple dates billed as "An Evening With Styx". They also have a couple dates with REO -
AGAIN, Egad. And don't forget a couple dates with the very popular Blue Oyster Cult and Kansas. I don't mind Kansas,
I think they're still pretty good, haven't seen them in a while.
But, Anywho, Styx will be on the never ending tour again.
If Carrot Styx did announce a tour with Night Ranger and Ted, then that would've been a HUGE announcement. I hope to see footage of this big announcement they're having today.
Ash, it's Monday - UGH - Everyone wakes up on the wrong side of bed
