Cheers Andrew. Any word on when it'll be released in Europe and who'll be stocking it?

Thanks for an honest and most of all great review. I hope this album will get the airplay it deserves and that Journey is here to stay for a long long time to come.

Frontiers will be releasing it with an extra track on june 6. I've received a mail from them this morning that it will be shipped tomorrow so I guess the release date has been pushed up to june 3rd as well.

Mac,

Thanks for the review man. I haven't read it in detail yet but I do have one question. Why not review the new material separately from the rehash crap? I don't think most folks give a crap about the re-make of the old material. What do you think?

Thanks,

Aaron

I thought I pretty much did that :)
Just stop reading after the instrumental track is featured!

But in all honesty - that's tempting, but that's not all this release is. It is most definitely 2 discs of material recorded earlier this year and I can't only review parts of the package.

Even in Europe it is a 2CD set...so there ya go!

Thats quite an insular view when the review clearly explains that the redux versions were recorded primarily for licensing purposes (although I don't doubt there is a one fingered salute to Perry in there somewhere). The fact that they have done this might mean that Journey's music finds a larger audience through possible future ventures and initiatives. More recognition for the band can only be a good thing and therefore to me at least the re-recorded classics could never simply dismissed as crap and I look forward to hearing them in their entirety.

I'm gonna be really interested to hear the new album.. I'll check it out once it hits the shelves in Europe..
Its gonna be a tough one when it comes to shelling out the money for it though... Personally i still have an issue with lining the Journey camp's pockets after last years fiasco..

But i'm sure its a stellar album.. I'll wait and see

I think the review is spot on. The only thing that hurts this album in anyway is some lyrical cheese. In a few places some different lyrics would have really created a cd with no "skip" tracks. There are two skip tracks on the cd for me because I dont like being reminded of an 80's Rocky working out montage. Other than that this is the best work they have done since Frontiers IMO... I would gladly listen to the two tracks that suffer from lyrical cheese syndrome if they were instrumentals. ALL of the music on this cd is awesome and is played with feeling and bombast where needed. A truly inspired effort.

Just read the review...sounds good. I like how you said "fruity lyrics" on Sunshower. lol. that was my thinking when I heard it through...who was drinking Boons farm Strawberry Wine while penning that? :) Tomorrow is the day & for our reviews.

I saw the CBS interview yesterday, and listening to him, I know now, he deserves the job. I just hope they treat him right and not screw him over.

i think w/o sunshower and FITH remake, and add a real Balls to The Walls Rocker its better than anything they have done in a long time.

Sunshower is the new "mary poppins" song
