I just got finished reading this, and thought I'd share the link if anyone here was interested. It's John McCain's account of his POW time in Vietnam, written in 1973. It is a very good read. I have more respect for him now as a person and as a patriot.

Did you actually read what I posted? Your party is more than culpable and more than half responsible for this fiasco. Just because W's administration spoke out of one side of its ass on the issue, does not diminish in any way the legislation it wrote and passed that made the cause of this crisis much worse.

Besides, Americans are noticing. Palin is toast, and she can go back to being a somewhat intelligent, albeit annoying soccer mom with a pathetic record as governor of the least populous state in the nation.

There's Joe Six pack and Joe Lunchbucket, every politician wants to know them. They have a cousin called Jack Shitt. Every politician both sides of the aisle D or R have some associaton with this guy but no one, ever claims to know him.

Jack Shitt has made numerous appearances in in the lives of Presidents ever since the civil war.

When drinking heavily in the oval office, he was there with Ulysses S Grant. When one of Grant's aides was asked , who is Grant doing all this drinking with, who is the bad influence- the response was "I dont know Jack Shitt.

Jack Shitt made an appeance in the Harding administration. When asked who was responsible for the growing Teapot Dome scandal Hardings secretary of the interior was said to say I couldnt tell you I dont know Jack Shitt.

Nixon had a curious relationship with Jack Shitt. When he lost the 1960 Presidental race and then the 1962 race for California Governor, Nixon felt abandoned by Jack Shitt. He was heard saying "Dammit Pat, I cant win Jack Shitt". But Jack came back and served in the Nixon whitehouse. When the watergate hotel was broken into. nixon was asked if he knew of the break in. " I dont know Jack Shitt came his reply". For years it has been rumoured that Deep Throat was Jack Shitt - whenever you asked anyone who deep throat was, " I dont know jack shitt" was the answer. "

Jack Shit may in fact be a girl with a boys name. When Marylin Monroe was apparentlyh seen leaving the Kennedy whitehouse zipping up her dress, a whitehouse aide was asked "whose that girl". "I dont know Jack SHitt" came back the reply. This scene was repeated in the Clinton house when Clinton denied having sex with monica Lewinsky. "Look guys, said clinton wagging his finger, I dint have sex with Jack SHitt, leave me alone.

So when a politician tells you his opponent doesnt know Jack Shitt, hes probably lying. No politician appears to know Jack Shitt. But hes there- thats one thing we can all put our faith in. Get his ass up on Mount rushmore,
Matt

I agree with this. She doesn't strike be as power hungry at all. Frankly, she seems quite comfortble just following, which is why I don't believe that she has any right being elected as a leader!

RossValoryRocks wrote:You libs just can't stomach a a pro-life, educated, working woman running on a Republican ticket, because it invalidates many of the positions you libs hold dear.

Well, I can tell you that it certainly doesn't "invalidate" a single position that I "hold dear". Also, I think there is a distinction to be made between someone who is "pro-life", and someone who has publically stated, on the record, that she would like to see abortion completely outlawed, in ALL circumstances! One final point...I think you're beyond delusional if you actually believe that there is a single "lib" who believes that Puppet Palin is intelligent, so the "educated" part doesn't mean much. Just because a person can get through college (which really isn't all that difficult to accomplish) doesn't mean they can string a cogent thought together. W. has been living proof of that for the past 8 years!

RossValoryRocks wrote:Obama is going to win, probably in a landslide, and in 2 years we will be in the middle of another depression if history is any guide.

Given the extremely fragile state of the U.S. economy, your prediction may become a reality, regardless of which candidate gets elected. I may not know each candidate's position on every issue as well as you do, but from what I've read, a McCain administration will also see a tax increase. From what I can tell, the only difference is that the middle class will be affected more by McCain's tax increase than Obama's.

RossValoryRocks wrote:Now if by some miracle McCain wins, he is VASTLY different that President Bush on many many issues, about he ONLY thing they have in common are a FEW positions on the war in Iraq.

I actually agree with this, as well. I have listened to McCain for many years, and I know his policies aren't all aligned with those of the Bush administration. Having said that, I'm not sure it even matters. I believe that at this point, it is guilt by association (i.e. they are both Republicans). Also, I have zero doubt in my mind that McCain will lose this election for one main reason...His selection of Puppet Palin as his running mate. I believe that if he had selected Mitt Romney, or another much more experienced politician, that he would win this election, fairly comfortably!

This, we would never see eye to eye on.

Certainly, Fannie and Freddie loaning to people who shouldn't have taken out loans was a huge mistake, and if that was from a Democratic push, then the blame rests on them. But things seemed to be chugging along fine until Bush started a war that drove up gas prices and created inflation. Yes, I said the war pushed gas prices up. And that's what happened. Supply and demand is being controlled, it's not a fair market.

But to be fair, a good lender won't lend to people that can't tolerate fluctuations in the economy. But, again, had the gas prices not risen 3X and inflation not been realized, I don't think we would be talking about Fannie and Freddie like we are.

Alright then...to be fair, in defense of most of those good demonrats - they were not sophisticated enough to understand what was going on. They only understood two things:
1) Good people they liked were living it up.
2) They were getting a commission.

Really, that's a myth, Rick. If you read the article I posted on Page 72, you'll see just how culpable Bush and the Republicans are. Remember, they had control of the legislative branch between 1994 and 2006, as well as the executive from 2000 until today.

Both parties are responsible, but the Republicans more so by a significant margin. Facts don't lie; only Lie Finder does.

Yo, Rick. It seems you're forgetting this one little detail... 9/11 preceded Bush's 'war'. When 9/11 happened, EVERYTHING changed. How things might have been different is certainly debatable, but you can't blame it all on Iraq. Sorry, I just don't buy it.

To defend Iraq, you're quick to cite famous Democrats who pushed for regime change, yet now you pretend this war came to Bush and he had no choice. Many of the people that petitioned Clinton for reigime change in the 90s went on to serve in the highest levels of Bush's cabinet.
Ever hear of PNAC?

The facts state that.

Let's see. Paul O'Neill (former Treasury Secretary), Scott McClellan, the PNAC...to name a few.

Hiya Honey!!!

I don't believe that for a minute, Rick. And even if it were true, none of the war talk really has anything to do with all the BS that's going on now. Greed and unethical behavior between our legislators and the assholes on Wall Street, that's what the new crisis is. Blaming one party over the other isn't getting to the root cause of the problem, IMO. Both sides have their fair share of 'patriots and pinheads' (to quote BOR). SOMEBODY needs to step up and hold these people accountable. I believe that John McCain will do that before Barack Obama will.

Of course, it's just more convenient to sit back and point fingers for the next 30 days than to actually hold folks accountable...
