It's curious and interesting reading these posts without a large knowledge of the personalities within the US media political scene. Some I know well, others I have never heard at all.

But it seems from what is said that the majority of these commentators have a distinct and open bias towards one side or the other.

Here in Australia such bias is openly criticized and largely unwelcomed - should anyone be so openly bias. I know of only ONE nationally published journalist who routinely sides with the conservative opposition.

The rest call it like they see it - some good, some bad....depending on the situation and seriously....bias is not usually wecomed by the Oz public as a whole. Different cultures I guess. My idea of journalism growing up is that of balanced opinion and that's certainly what I try to bring to this site where possible.

It depends on what you mean...There are journalists that work for newspapers, TV news programs, news magazines, etc., that are supposed to be unbiased. Then you have news OPINION programs like The O'Reilly Factor, Rush Limbaugh's show, Glenn Beck, etc., that are obviously not supposed to be just news but commentary on what the host of the show believes. There's not a thing wrong with that.

If that were really true, there'd be a movement inside your party to impeach Bush.

Like I said, it's not my party. Not a Republican. If they want to impeach him, then let them go for it.

A Glenn Beck-Ted Nugent ticket could fix shit real quick. Two guys that know their shit and love this country. Like Ted said, end welfare immediately.

I'm not claiming Fox is unbiased but I've heard Dems like Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell and the previous former Dem chairman, Terry McAuliffe, say that Fox's election coverage this year has been the best of any of the Cable news networks this year.

She's probably more qualified than either Obama or Biden and possibly more qualified than McCain. I actually do think Bobby Jindall would have been a good choice also.

This is the same network that runs accusations of the Clintons murdering Vince Foster.
CNN and MSNBC merely did their job working out the electoral math and showing she could not lock up the nomination by kosher means.
Once that happened, the Clinton campaign took any publicity they could – including sit-down interviews with Richard Melon Scaife and sucking up to FOX.

She ran her campaign like a sleazebag Republican and turned off the liberal base - it probably cost her the nomination.

Did you happen to see the Ted Nugent hour long interview on Glenn's tv show? That was a great interview. Ted is a pretty cool guy. Again, can't get on board with hunting. I know it's a necessary evil in a lot of cases, but I'm borderline PETA when it comes to animals. Those 2 crack me up. Glenn and Ben Stein are hilarious together too.

That has nothing to do with what I said. I'm merely pointing out what other Dems have said about Fox News' coverage of the campaign this year.

I sure did see that. One of the better episodes. I'm a big Nugent fan thanks to Tito. Though I don't think his music is all that. Good enough to go see live every once in a while, though.

Here's an interview reprinted on Ted's own web site...

He has the rage, but he doesn't have the war record. At 18, he was called up to serve in Vietnam. "In 1977 you gave an interview to High Times [the cannabis user's journal of record] where you claimed you defecated in your clothes to avoid the draft."

("I got 30 days' notice of the physical," Nugent told them. "I ceased cleansing my body. Two weeks before the test I stopped eating food with nutritional value. A week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. My pants got crusted up.")

"I never *** my pants to get out of the draft," says Nugent, good-naturedly.

"You also told them you took crystal meth [methamphetamine, the highly destabilising drug sometimes described as poor man's crack] before the medical - as a result of which, and I quote: 'I got this big juicy 4F.'"

"Unbelievable. Meth," he replies, in a tone of deep sarcasm. "Yes, that's my drug of choice. You've got to realise that these interviewers would arrive with glazed eyes and I would make stories up. I never did crystal meth. And I never pooped my pants."

"But you did dodge the draft." "I had a 1Y [student deferment]. I enrolled at Oakland Community College."

"You said then that you wanted 'to teach the stupid bastards in the military a lesson'. I'd have thought you'd have loved the army. Guns. Travel. Danger." "Back then, I didn't even understand what World War II was."

"So basically," - I admit that I have, unaccountably, started to speak Nugent - "you didn't want to get your Michigan ass blown off in Vietnam." "Correct. I did not want to get my ass blown off in Vietnam."

"I know you do a lot of charity work for wounded veterans. Has it occurred to you that someone else may have died in Saigon because you didn't go?"

"Absolutely."

Nugent's name, as I am sure he's aware, appears, along with those of Cheney, Bush and many of their fellow Republicans, on a website called chickenhawks.com. It lists those who have evaded or abbreviated their own military service then, later in life, developed an appetite for war and machismo, either personally or by proxy.

"So has this made you..." "Certainly. Because I failed to serve in Vietnam, I feel an obligation now, to do everything I can to support those defending our freedom. Do I feel guilt and embarrassment? Yes."

"You missed your calling."

"I wish I'd understood how important America's fight against our enemies was. But did I go to Fallujah two years ago? Damn right I did. And was I in Afghanistan, manning a 50-calibre machine gun in a Chinook - ready to rock? Yes. Was I there for years? No. A couple of weeks. But I am not a coward."

Thnaks, Dave. He admitted he was wrong and is seemingly trying to reciprocate for what he deems a bad decision. Whether or not that is possible is debatable, but I can certainly respect what he's done since his change of idealogy.

It's certainly a regrettable decision and, truthfully, it gives me some pause when I consider Nugent's current politics. On the other hand, he at least admits it was wrong, unlike some of the others who evaded the draft and refuse to admit it.

I dodged the Revolutionary War, and that asshole Franklin and that dickhead Hamilton have NEVER let me live it down.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night

Burr and I both bathed in bleach about a week before the draft. Washington had no idea the tricks we had up our sleeves. But we went to Charleston, and some of the women there were actually showing ankles! What a great time...

There is NO connection (other than a very casual one) between these two men.

The people of Alaska will fire Palin soon. She will NOT be the VP.

Let them/her keep it up. the door to the keating 5 is swinging wide open and Mccain is much more connected to that scandal than Obama is to ayers. It also shines a light on the economy, which is the focus of tomorrow's debate. You go Sarah!!

None of it matters kids...Obama is the next President...and he will screw the US economy and make us weaker on terrorism. He has stated in his POLICIES what he will do and the economists and military people are cringing.

The short sighted Americans that we are are only looking at the next 6 months...if that...and don't see what Obama's policies are going to do to our country.

And don't bring up Bush, that is the past now, this is the future.

We bailed out Wall Street (and both Obama and McCain were wrong on it) and the market is still tanking...wait until Obama puts in 1 Trillion in new spending and the tax increases to pay for it. It is going to be 1932 all over again, which is where the Great Depression REALLY got going.

Unemployment DOUBLED almost. The economy ground to a halt and it all hit the fan. The parallels between then and now are FRIGHTENING!

I hope everyone has a lot of money stashed away.
