LOL, yea what if it had been YOU he dropped those bomb answers on in LA??? :P

Like another guy said above you it's one thing to artfully walk the line between denying and dummying up like Neal did but this was amazing! :D

Now we're gonna get insulted by the band for knowing what we know?

Exactly, that's why I've seen my last Journey show...unless the impossible happens

Screw it I'm there to hear one of the top bass players in the business play the bass.
Care less personally what he SAYS.

I get that they aren't gonna own up to the deed. I don't see the need for them to get into going off on any fans, in light of actually OWING so many fans a great deal for not abandoning them completely. Yeah, IMO they should be treating people better, not worse. WTF are these guys thinking? Good luck to JSS, seriously. He'll have to counteract all the p.r. nightmares the rest of the band creates. You can kinda see why any new member to the band is facing an uphill battle.

WHAT??!!

Postby 7 Wishes » Tue Feb 27, 2007 2:20 pm

Ross? An a**hole? Dude, put down your crack pipe. First of all, not everyone is at the top of their game all the time. I'll give you an example...last time through town, Hunsicker's bass player had a major case of hemorrhoids, and started slapping around the hot little bartender at Amos' because he thought the poor girl was using Dewar's instead of Glenfiddich. Now, generallly speaking, he's a nice guy.

Seriously, though...I've met Ross at least a dozen times in the past 25 years and he has always been the most outgoing, respectful guy in the band - even more than JC, kinda just a fun-loving dude like Jack Blades or Scottie Smith (RIP). And you're trying to tell me his bass playing is sub-par? Dude, I'm sorry he dissed your kid, but give it a rest. Ross is an eminently talented musician with a very impressive catalogue.

The fact that "the person that stirried up the tape issue is not a jornalist" makes it even more beleivable.Clutching at straws? Come on .After all the clips and proof that was presented on here,he {Ross} should have claimed the 5th, or just blamed it on the "wiggler" The average fan would have beleived it, I think it was bullshit. Thanks for the clip anyway. It was hard enough to accept the truth, but ,to have a band member come out and say what really happened is"an urban myth" really pisses me off. If anyone here beleives this, than all the posts about Steve A and lipping should be retracted and then we should bury our heads back in the fucking sand. Sorry to sound so angry, but you beleive something is real, you find out it is not, then you are told again that it is. What is really the truth?? I know what is the truth, That part of the interview was bullshit period!!!

"It turns out the person who stirred up the tape issue is not a journalist
and didn't have the correct information. It appears to me some people
have too much time on their hands, sometimes fans can be over-obsessed
with the band of their dreams and they can get to be too imaginative
or creative in order to provoke a response. It's like they're clutching
at straws, and even inventing those straws! I don't, of course, wish
to disparage the bulk of our fans."

Never thought I'd see myself saying this but I feel quite hurt and angry on Dean's behalf about this and find most of the responses so far overly charitable. I don't care what's been said in private and whether Ross has thanked Dean on bended knee for saving the band, I think this is an unforgivable breach of loyalty towards someone Ross appeared to be very friendly with indeed at Ed's party. I am absolutely disgusted at what I see as the spinelessness of Ross Valory. Noone expects them to come out and admit it at this stage but there was no need to make Dean look like an obsessive fool.

Doesn't matter what he says about tapegate. Anyone with intelligence can see now that they had to do something to cover Augie's shortcomings, and when it became apparent what was happening due to the fan with too much time on his hands  they had to replace him. Not much more to it than that.

Amazingly, just earlier in the year both Neal and Ross were begging Andrew to relay to Dean the message of please take down the blog.
I'd choose my words carefully, Ross.
Dean may have taken down the blog, but he certainly didn't destroy the evidence.

Your comments come across as a threat.

Like someone else said, it was Mardi Gras, lots going on, lots of refreshment flowing, easy circumstance in which to let your mouth ramble where it probably shouldn't. Ross tends to ramble a bit in interviews anyway when he gets the chance, maybe because he doesn't get the chance as often as Neal and Jon.

I wasn't aware of the supposed rumour about Virgil replacing Deen... when did that start?

I'll admit I've not been on these message boards as much recently but I thought I'd have seen something like that. If there really was any rumour about that though... my first thought would be: naaaah they're just saying that cos that happened with Soul Sirkus and there was a reason for that.

And yeah Ross does ramble a bit. I've noticed that. Not always a bad thing but as Drew said, sometimes saying less is better. Particularly if talking about a touchy subject.

Have to agree with Andrew, less is more sometimes. But hell, they have all said stuff publicly I'm sure they wish they hadn't and die hard fans have taken too literally. Look at Perry's "never felt part of the band" comment. :? I'm not impressed, but I'm not going to hang the guy for it. Besides, the people that matter, know anyways. :)

My thoughts, too.
It is obvious that this is what RV "had to say" to appease certain fans & the public with an upcoming tour - can't blame him for that...but, why say anything at all at this point? It is also obvious to those with half a brain that this would've made more sense during the time when the 'tapegate' news was all over the radio & net & damaging them, then it "could've" been more believable.
But, oh, well...the band messed up & now it is fixed & we can trust it won't happen again with JSS.

And, the bit about "obsessive" just reminded me of the scene in the beginning of the movie, "Broadcast News" with the little girl (Holly Hunter's character).....basically the whole movie reminds me of "tapegate"....great movie.

Kinda running a wee bit overboard with the home-erotic adjectives, aren’t we?
“Big”?
“Burly”?

I’m surprised you didn’t find a way to include “strapping biceps”, “sweat glistening pecks” or "the strangely sweet manly musk of B.O." in there while ur at it.
Or, had you already reached a state of unperturbable homosexual rhapsody by that point?

Of course your dad instilled that in you.
The asthma-riddled theatre geek with the gimp leg is always bombarded by schoolyard threats and jeers.
You were a loser back then and now.
The only difference is, you’ve grown to love being used as somebody’s toilet.

Much in how pressure and heat turns a coal into a diamond, years of making girls compulsively wretch has turned you into an unabashed cock pig free to strew new incurable VDs upon the land.

Fans like me already did “put up” and directly because of it, you still have a band to try to mutate into the Mariachi bar mitzvah band from hell.

Empty threats and flights of delusion did not force the band’s hand.
A couple of fans and a blog did, and if Ross were smart he’d give the online community a whole lot more credit.
Only Jeff seems to get the power it truly wields.
