I don't understand. Are you saying that Journey don't have the right to promote themselves? Personally I thought the article was balanced and although nothing new to us perhaps informative to the wider market they appear to be aiming for.

it's ovah. promote themselves- leave the past schutt outta it. it serves no purpose.

move on. nothing to see here. who cares. it's ovah. everyone has moved on. it's ovah.

see reviews for journey shows.

it's ovah. old news.

that is my point. it's a pissing contest from here on. there is no point discussing.

move forward. (not you personally--just in general :D )

Yeah, that was probably not necessary. The comment about his voice not being right for them is just telling it like it is, but they don't need to air dirty laundry. Soto is without question a great singer, and I think he writes great tunes, but Journey made the right decision by retooling with AP. As far as Perry goes, at the end of the day its all on him. He seems to be a bit of a wimpy guy, which oddly seems to make male celebrities more attractive to women. Based on the comments Perry has made over the years I can only conclude that he is not the most stable person in the world. I wouldn't want to have to depend on someone like him in the crunch or when times get tough. Sometimes you have to suck it up, be a man and get your job done, but evidently SP couldn't measure up in that department. He bailed on Journey in the 80's and again in the 90's. At least the band learned its lesson by not giving him a chance to shaft them again in the 2000's.

I agree, Deb, but I think they're just answering questions presented by the interviewer. I think it's the "other side" that has a problem letting it go and brings up past schutt. Case in point...as soon as Never Walk Away came out Soto and the other gaggle of Loons swooped down and tried selling us that it was a rip off of Be Good To Yourself and Believe In Me. That's not letting go of past schutt. And I've been to 6 shows and haven't heard one person say that the 2 songs sound even remotely the same. :)

come here and let me swab yer ears for ya. :P it's blatant. but that's jmho as a music judge and teacher. :P

you're right tho' --they can't control the questions of the interviewer. maybe they could just say old news-- ask another. dunno about that. that's a tuff deal for them-- to get ask questions they wanna answer, or don't wanna answer. i mean, they prolly don't want to go there either.

arrrggg.. it's part of the package--it happened--everyone's gotta deal with it. I think an apology would fix it. but then, that is an admission of guilt of some sort--lawyers would freak blah blah.

what a mess. what a tangled web we weave............i just hate it that it turned out like this. for everyone. for us, too. :(

I've never bashed the man once in my life. Show me one time where I did anything but present my opinion. I've never called him one name...ever. You're so far up his fucking ass with delusional perceptions of his place in the music business that you consider anything other than a pedestal "bashing." When I merely pointed out facts about his catalog and past album sales I was accused of bashing. I guess history books are nothing more than bashing, too.

That's utter horsesh*t and you know it. You're the one who cares more about where his place in the music business is, than I do. I choose my favorites by vocals not by stats, remember?!

Then please explain how you can say I bashed the guy when I never called him a name or made a any sort of unfounded derogatory reference to him? And when he corrected me by informing me that he had his wardrobe selected for him when I said he looked like a gangbanger on stage I immediately apologized.

Granted most of your bashing is of his fans. Some very unwarranted. You continue to spout off that people are mostly Jeff's fans because of....wait, let me find your quote....."when Soto started dealing out backstage passes like a Vegas blackjack dealer, but mandated that everyone abandon Journey because of "the way" they released the guy." Hate to break it to you, the majority of JSS' fans haven't gotten backstage passes, hell some of us have never even seen him live in Journey. God forbid somebody might be a fan of his talent! And your continual comments on his character regarding what he has or has not said about personal band information.......neither you nor I were there, so you really have no idea what was or wasn't said.

Why the hate-on, dude? :? Let it go, and Journey on........

I disagree here. It was predominantly, if not exclusively, his fans that photoshopped Arnel, called him some rather rude names and started the "comparison" wars between the two. They also said Journey was done, would never release anymore original music and would flop on tour. Wrong on all counts. Still waiting for Soto to "soar" as well. After all, he is better off without Journey!!!
Deb wrote: God forbid somebody might be a fan of his talent!

The guy saw over a half million people during his time with Journey and was only able to manage to draw a handful to his solo shows. I've never argued that he wasn't talented. I argued that he wasn't as talented, and more importantly, as popular, as people were claiming he was. Solo tour receipts seem to indicate that I was far more correct in my assertions than those on the flip side of that argument.
Deb wrote:And your continual comments on his character regarding what he has or has not said about personal band information. Neither you nor I were there, so you really have no idea what was or wasn't said.

I've merely pointed out that there actually is another side to this story!!! And for people that "have no idea what was or wasn't said" it has certainly been ok to play judge, jury and executioner as far as convicting Journey goes!!!

Deb wrote:Why the hate-on, dude? :? Let it go, and Journey on........

I don't hate the man at all. In fact, through all of this I have abstained from name calling and kept a level head. I love everyone.

Lets move on on fine,I am trying to do that.Friga makes it impossiable to do that.Every interveiw he does he has to make some fucking wisecrack about past singers. The interveiwer didnt ask him shit about SA or Jeff, even if he did, asshole could have kept his panties on {for a change} declined to comment. Im trying to scrap up some cash to see Journey this week.It might not happen, when I read shit like this it makes me think why fucking bother.

First of all, you have no idea what he was asked. Interviewers are great for presenting an answer but omitting the actual question. He said it was hard to move on when Augeri went down and that Soto wasn't a good fit. How are these "wisecracks?" An maybe if you were the one being sued you'd have a different take on things. We've heard Neal mention that Soto is suing/sued them. Do you not believe that to be true?

And yes, go see a show. I think you'll enjoy it a lot. They're performing well right now. If you need a loan to go see the show just ask Tito. That cheap fucker still has his Communion money.

I hope he isn't suing them unless he has a REALLY good reason. Just move on, for crying out loud. As much as I hate how the band treated him, I don't think a lawsuit helps even if he has legal grounds for it.

Talent and popularity are two totally different things. Considering Jeff's shows have no promotion behind them, like the name Journey. Pull one of the Journey guys out and put him in a club, would probably sell the same. Irregardless, I don't give a rat's a$$ about attendance stats, seriously. Actually from a strictly selfish fan's point of view I would rather see my favorite singers in a smaller venue than a huge arena anyway. Of course I'd like to see my favorites do well. And continuing to perform and do what they love.....performing where and when they want.....keeps this fan smiling. :)

And smiling bigtime, might I add.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cc7fyla-FMc

They have every right to do what they want. But I do find it weird, Soto was singing Journey songs in Soul Sirkus, so Neal knew darn well what Soto sounded like on Journey tunes? :? I just get the impression of more of a clash between Cain and Soto. God forbid they have a strong minded frontman like Perry again. :o This fan is just fine with Soto not in Journey, he can creatively spread his wings. And I wish Arnel all the best on the Journey material. The part I find the most laughable in the whole thing SJ (Image), is that you keep trying to find a way to somehow justify or try to make it sound ok, how JSS was dismissed.

1. Why are they to be blamed for Cronin letting the cat out of the bag. Cronin falsely assumed he was notified and it wasn't his business to say anything. Although I think it was more of "sorry you got let go." Not, "I've been told to tell you, you're fired."

2. Neal brought Soto in because he knew he was familiar with the music and could pull it off it an emergency which they needed.

3. Strong minded frontman? What leg does Soto have to stand on?

4. JSS was dismissed appropriately. Phil Collins notified the rest of Genesis the same way when he left them in the 90s - he hired someone to tell them.
