So I guess the question is who is going to sit in for Valory and Smitty at the end of the month when the tour starts??

I smell another pathetic publicity stunt. Journey has been pulling all kinds of publicity stunt shit like crazy in recent years, and it's disgusting.

There's no way that this is a true event.

Seriously Journey members.... Grow the hell up. You're turning into an absolute joke!!!

LOL....that is exactly what I thought, too. It reads like a bad April Fools joke.

If it's true, then , WTF? I mean, that's a train wreck.
If it's a stunt, then, WTF? How lame, what a train wreck.

Either way, this is really, really, really stupid.

i always thought Valory was a full member and Smith a hired gun under contract.
I take it Arnel it is a hired gun too?

I'm more fascinated by how much money Perry has been hauling in from every new Journey album and tour over the last 20 years since he left than I am the lawsuit. I figured he was making a nice living doing nothing but I didn't realize that he was banking a mint. He sure raked Schon and Cain through the coals in that Elmo agreement back in 1997.

The fact that all this information was allowed to be made public in a legal way makes me further suspect a publicity stunt. I don't know about the rest of the tour, but the night they have in my town isn't close to being sold out. So they could use a bit of publicity now. And if Valory and Smitty were close to retiring anyway, it gives them a chance to escape before another tour starts up.

Ok, people...there is NO WAY that Andrew would tweet it and POST IT with the complaint and evidence if this was some kind of so-called publicity stunt. WONT.HAPPEN! And the lawsuit would be THROWN OUT OF COURT if this was some kind of so-called publicity stunt. THIS IS REAL. It happened, is happening and will continue to happen because I sincerely doubt that this lawsuit is over. I am waiting for a counter-suit from Ross and Smith.

This is real. This lawsuit is true. Legal documents are not drafted for publicity stunts. Not with these cats. These dudes are SERIOUS and have ALWAYS been serious about the Benjamins. Make no mistake about it.

I have always wondered about him and his lawyer friend. Well, now we know. No wonder he thanked his lawyer at the RRHOF and if we were him...we would too. And you know what's telling: Steve voted against Ross and Smith and voted with the guys, Cain and Schon! So while he is no longer with the band performance wise, he still has voting rights and say in regards to licensing and publishing. So...wow...Steve's got REAL juice.

This is ABSOLUTELY a true event. No way would Neal or Cain have their lawyers (this firm is one of the BEST in the biz) for a stupid prank. Who, I crave to know, thought this coup was a good idea and that it would EVER happen? When those other DOES 1-20 are found out, what a STORM (pun intended) this will be. I am waiting for more! Yeah, it’s crazy. The stadium tour with Def Leppard in 2018 grossed about $98 million I believe and it you do the math, Perry probably banked $10 million easy from that 1 tour.

YO!!!! HE MADE BANK!!! HOLY CRAP!!! He voted against Smith and Valory too you know. Steve ain't NOBODY'S FOOL! You don't need to be a genius to know that Ross and Smith couldn't do what Jon and Neal have done for Journey. But no WONDER they keep touring!!! They are paying Perry and Smith and Ross had enough and wanted in on that. They probably said: why are WE busting our behinds while Perry pays for his new home studio, pays for the players on it at great cost (maybe), scouts for a label and STILL get paid off of what WE do?!? Heck I'd be mad too!

They need to bring back Randy on bass and either Omar or Deeno on drums since their already somewhat familiar with the material. Expecting two brand new people to learn the dirty dozen front to back in only two months before a tour is a tall order.

Ill take Randy "Rock Dog" Jackson ANY DAY! Excepting Ross on Frontiers and TBF (he was smoking hot then!), Randy brought some real FUNK to the band. Don't know if Michael Baird is still around but he could come back. "The monster is walking" as Neal would say about him. Dude was good (Smitty is better though. A living legend himself!)

I wonder what Herbie has to say about all of this?

That's not what I saw in the documents. Herbie and Steve both voted FOR Ross and Smitty to be president and secretary.

Something is definitely wrong with this picture. I'm waiting to see what Ross and Smitty have to say, if anything. They're not much for social media.

I agree. The documents I saw makes it look like SP and Herbie agreed with the power grab. However, Cain's signature is on some of the documents, and he disputes it. So who knows what is real?

Cain’s signature on the board meeting docs is a e-signature not a real one. He should be able to prove it wasn’t him. He showed up via phone as did Schon’s rep so they learned about the meeting somehow. At the end of the day, Valory and Smith were equal partners in Nightmare with Perry, Cain, Schon, and Herbie. By voting them to Chairman and Secretary does not grant them more shares of the business or more voting power. It doesn’t make sense why this escalated. They would have to buy the others out. Secondly, Cain and Schon’s claim that the Journey mark isn’t owned by Nightmare is incorrect. It is, but solely licensed to Elmo so no one could use it except Cain/Schon/Perry as done after they fired Valory and Smith in 1985. Arnel has no shares.

Plus, as stated above Perry is ruthless!!! 50% on the first two albums and two tours!?!? Still getting 12.5% after 23 years. I think the 12.5% was fair, but 50% is highway robbery. He had Cain and Schon over a barrel.

The contract states that "Net Tour Income shall mean Schon or Cain's share, whichever is greater." So 50% of the Net Tour Income is not what it sounds like.
The big news here that was not reported in the news is that the other 2 individuals who voted to remove Schon and Cain as president and secretary were Steve Perry and Herbie Herbert. This is not as simple as Journey firing Valory and Smith.

Please, oh please share with us exactly what they would gain by making this all up and creating a publicity stunt. I'm anxiously waiting.

You honestly think airing the band's dirty laundry and financial arrangements, while also announcing that their longtime bassist and drummer have been fired for trying to steal the band's name somehow increases ticket sales? Do you even read what is taking place on Facebook regarding this mess?

Here's one quote that I picked random.

"Sad to see one of my favorite bands end like this".

No one, and I mean no one with half a brain thinks this is a net positive. The die hard fans, like us, know all about the drama around Journey. Most people do not. So they don't look at it like a new beginning with new members. They look at like a death nail, or they just don't give a damn.
