What a great fuckin' article! Could have done without all the jabs and backhanded compliments thrown at the band, but it was pretty well rounded.

Two things that stuck out the most:
1) Arnel's back story is gut wrenching. I really, really feel for that guy. He must be riding the edge of an emotional knife right now. High as a kite half the time and nervous as a motherfucker the rest. I wish him all the best.

2) That "reporter" who popped in and posted looking for how we felt about Journey for an "article" was CAVEMAN???!! Did anyone else know this? That's pretty fucking cool. Now I wish I responded to his request! I like to think I'd have been placed in the "fair minded" camp he mentioned.

As far as the Perry's working on a new album thing goes, well.... I seem to recall him talking about him in the process of planning or talking about a solo tour on the VH1 BTM special too. I pray its true and hope to be pleasantly surprised, but I won't hold my breath.

In the mean time, I've already purchased my tickets for the Irvine Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick show and I'm looking forward to being blown away by Arnel. I sincerely hope they play a lot of the new stuff.

I've read enough here to know that without mentioning the fake recordings used on tour a few years ago or their treatment of Jeff Scott Soto, that this was pretty much a fluff piece, most likely endorsed by the band for promotional purposes. There are a few times some interesting things are mentioned, but overall it doesn't really cover enough.

Hmmm...
Schon just recently played a big part in firing Augeri and Jeff.

While he didn't "shelve" the band, his commitment
to the creation/recording of such albums as ROR, TBF
and Generations has been well-documented as "not really into it".
Hell, even he says in this recent interview that none
of them were prepared to record a whole album; they through ideas together
on the fly (and judging from the clips, maybe they should do that more often).

He put a TON of effort into Soul Sirkus which did cut into his time
and commitment to Generations.

As for apoligetic songs, well...
Maybe "Never Too Late" is a veiled apology to Perry???

You're right, it's just my opinion. But you have to admit, when it comes to making comments on ex bandmates, he's always come across with more class than Schon. People that are all jazzed about Journey and the current band members right now are going to think that way and that's great.....how it should be. Gawd help anybody who dogs Perry, Soto or Martin. Whether I agree with people's opinions or not, I love everybody's passion for the music and all it entails.

Schon just recently played a big part in firing Augeri and Jeff.

Augeri was given the chance of a lifetime and made millions of dollars. He was ultimately let go because he could no longer perform, not because they wanted to replace him. Jeff was paid to finish a tour and was then released. To the best of my knowledge he had no longterm contract, so I'm not sure how you could fire a guy that's not in the band! Journey decided after said tour that they wanted to go in a different direction vocally and thanked Jeff for his time and services. End of story.
