oh hi JSS!!! nothing to see here.....move along.....

well how the heck do you think we knew ALL the words at SF and Paladino's???

u underestimate our sneakiness.......

and I think one of the new videos should include a concert shot of the chicas, front row center, singing loudly and smiling largely. :D

That whole sing and smile at the same time thing... and give the guys thumbs up, and clap, and dance, and take pics, and film...all under the influence of rum...front row is friggin exhausting work  A couple of seconds of screen time is the least he could do.

LOL, damn straight......especially when you're throwing mic stands around.

You have excellent aim under pressure. Impressive.

Firefest, here we come! 8)

due to size limitations on international flights, chicas please limit your hair spray to several small containers instead of the usual 5 gallon drum. thank you for your cooperation.

They only charge $25 bucks for each extra checked bag (that 12.5 British pounds; sounds better that way). :D

LOL lots of things you have to watch for on international flights. Got stopped at security coming back to Canada after MRfest for a tube of mascara in my purse believe it or not! I guess it's considered a liquid, who knew! I had to put the lone tube of mascara in a little plastic bag and go through security again. I think we cracked up for a good 10 minutes after that. That was an interesting flight out. When we were sitting there waiting for our flight, my friend says check this guy out staring at your chest.....sitting right across from us blatantly staring.  We were like WTH? So I just looked at him and he opens the one side of his jacket and he had on melodicrock.com tshirt. That's when I realised I had on my JSS necklace and he must have recognized the logo. Just snickered and sat chatting about the show for a bit.

Does JSS have an identity crisis?

Postby texafana » Tue Aug 12, 2008 12:08 am

JSS wrote:...this board & most on this site will not like, understand or accept this album as a Jeff Scott Soto album, because it simply isn't....I'm reaching for something new, something different, something that appeals to more than my own age group or long time listeners, Talisman or any of the other bands I have ever been in won't have that chance again, all we can do is try :)

Agreed 100%. Once again in my (worthless) opinion, JSS has gone a direction that has the potential JSS fan confused. Will the real JSS please stand up? Does he rock, grunge, funk, disco, pop ??? I don't get it at all. Sure these new songs sound ok...but what audience is he really trying to target? The mass pop crowd? Sure if you're all cute and in your 20's.

I and maybe others here, was looking forward to a cd featuring lush vocals, with a harder edge rockin sound. Journey on steroids if you will. Instead we have something of a beautiful mess of tunes that just sound ok. I can only imagine the eclectic collection of tunes played at the next JSS concert.

You have an amazing voice Mr.Soto. I surely wish you major success because it's long overdue, but incase this CD doesn't put you on MTV, could your next CD bring back some balls on the walls rock with a kick ass vocal rock delivery that you are oh so capable of doing?

Cue the standard replies: "JSS does what he wants and that's why I love him, he can go from Prince to Seal and I love every second of it!"

It may be different for what might have been expected of JSS but it seems fairly generic in the bigger picture - which may well be the point. It definitely meshes with what passes for popular today and should do well with the proper promotion.

I must admit I found Jeff's comment somewhat belittling. It's not for fans of previous work, they won't understand it, won't accept it etc. Let me tell you this isn't Dark Side of the Moon part II here. We want to give it a chance and I'm sure the majority will like it, many will understand and accept it! I can certainly see the potential for success here and applaud the new direction and hope it all goes well. Over time I think this could well be Jeff's biggest success so far and that's coming from someone who doesn't particularly like the samples and is hoping to find himself in the minority.

It wasn't meant to belittle whatsoever, I am a realist that this 'sound/style' won't appeal to most on this entire site much less this board. But since I frequent this place as it does cover a majority of my career, I stand behind it as I do everything I have recorded. Just adding a little explanation to the details for those who expect it to be something it's not & leave disappointed or criticize before they know what's in store with it. That's basically it.

In my opinion, a good thing, :!: I love the classic Talisman/Soto sound as much as the next guy, but its always good to hear and artist grow and do new things. Most real creative musicians/artists do- for example noone picked on Beethoven for having three distinct sounds/eras in his musical career- no one said "oh the 9th symphony dont sound like the Moonlight sonata so it sucks" (granted there was no MR message board back then!)

Look forward to hearing something even different yet again when the next JSS album comes around in a few years time.

Jeff! I have a Yngwie M c.d. with maybe you doing the vocals for the song "As Above, So Below." I think that it's the only vocals on the album. Is it on youtube?
That last note is pretty awesome.

The album is "Rising Force".......1984
