He was very sweet, kind, gracious, gentle and I just fell in love right then and there.
I hope he doesn't mind me saying this because I know he is a very private person.
Perhaps he was preparing himself for touring, at his own pace, for his new album.

The picture on your myspace page isn't Steve Perry, it's Jeff Scott Soto.

He replaced Steve Augeri (who replaced Steve Perry) in Journey for one tour.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

This is a wonderful story but too far-fetched to believe.
Could this have happened? Sure.
Why didn't it?
Because there is NO WAY Steve Perry sang a single note
in public, let alone an ENTIRE SET, without it being
reported ANYWHERE on the net within 5 seconds of it happening.
We would've seen posts from Blackberries on blogs all over the place.
And this forum would've picked up on this story right away.

Also, how do 500 people at a party enjoying an 80's cover band
NOT know who Steve Perry is
? Was this a NEws Years Eve party
for local elemantary school students???

Yeah...a swift kick in the ass for 2009's most ridiculous work of fiction. Take your bullshit stories over to Perryville where all the other nuts hang out.

Hey GIJ, I've a good friend who lives in Klamath Falls. Small world indeed.

As far as the quote goes... ya know... when people say "Steve Perry", and they are talking music, they usually mean the Steve Perry of Journey. Every other time I've seen the Cherry Poppin' Daddy Steve Perry mentioned, they qualify the mention with the band name.

I dunno... we've been hearing tidbits here and there... sounds like it's in the oven cookin'. Cool.

Must be a really big Perry fan considering that she didn't notice the foot difference in height and that Soto can sit in a fucking Range Rover without his nose pressing up against the windshield.

I can take the heat

Postby SP Fan in Oregon » Thu Jan 08, 2009 12:03 pm

By your reactions and discussion I can tell it was a very big deal for me
to have this wonderful experience, cause it certainly doesn't happen very often.
It is not so far fetched to believe that he would go out and sing with his friends
band. Not only did the band members tell me it was Steve Perry former Journey
singer during their sound check, but the man I met acknowledged who he is and
volunteered personal statements about Journey. The most telling of all was his
voice that I listened to all night. NO ONE ON EARTH has that voice, it is one of
a kind. When you add the voice with the man I was standing next too on stage
and the far fetched notion that someone would be "impersonating Steve Perry"
I can only come to one conclusion until someone proves to me otherwise.
I also caught some shit about the size of my avatar, so I hope that I fixed that.
Give me a break people. I'm new....... that's my excuse...........

Ok... who do we have here? Ed? Dean? Dan? This CANNOT be a legit poster

But if it is, your above comment would sound very true if you inserted "Jeff Scott Soto"
wherever you typed Steve Perry.

BTW, next time you run into Mr Perry, ask him what's up w/the Rick James Curlz
and then ask him, "Noticed your necklace... how long have YOU been a JSS fan???"

I'll zap ya a pm regarding the name. Well for the second biggest question of the century... as far as the CD goes, let's look at it this way.

1) He's pulled an outsider in to work on it, and then probably paid him money to do so (using logic here ... run with me on this)
2) This isn't the first we've heard recently that there's something up. There's been whispers more than not lately. (see #3)
3) Lora & others have heard the demos. We know he's done some work, and sung on the recordings.
4) The whole Pro-tools thing... just what Steve said he was recording with.

I dunno. Sounds logical to think it's correct. Will we hear it? I sure as hell hope so. I imagine there's a ton of music he has stockpiled that we'll never hear, but paying someone to work on it puts it in another league. That to me says it's been deemed "OK to let others listen to", aka potential. He still has many many many contacts. Does it need a label or will it go Indie? I vote indie, personally, but ya never know... some corporate guys may want in on the party. JMHO. And, I could be completely wrong.. but... I don't think so.

Oh for *ucks sake.. RELEASE THE DANG THING ALREADY! LOL!

I have no doubt that he was introduced as the former lead singer of Journey. But Jeff Scott Soto would never pretend and introduce himself and say he was Steve Perry. He has too much class and doesn't need to impersonate someone and lie. I think you heard the words former lead singer of Journey, which he was briefly, and thought Steve Perry. And Jeff has a powerful and amazing voice, but in no way can his voice be mistaken for Steve Perry, unless you're a casual Journey fan. In that photo Jeff is wearing his JSS pendant, as pointed out by Rick.
