I don't believe either candidate offers an economic silver bullet, but I've heard many economists endorse Obama.

Why? This is the same state who voted a professional (and I use that term VERY loosely) wrestler as its Governor!

No it's not. I thought it would be closer then anybody expected, too. Predicting a 'landslide' is probably predicting it too close. I suppose if you thought Bush/Dukakis was close, then this one is too.

I didn't say Kerry had a lead, I am saying I heard from all sorts of Democrats in 2004 how Bush was going down and it was going to be a landslide, boy were they wrong.

This is a different situation. It was easy to predict an Obama win as McCain continued running Hillary's losing campaign strategy...But, nobody could have predicted the number of mistakes and political miscalculations that McCain would make. Sure, he likes to shoot from the hip, but he sure likes to shoot his own foot as he does it.

As you COULD be...I don't know...this race has become hard to judge.

No it hasn't. Only people who want McCain to win and can't face the reality that he has lost - by a wide margin - would say something like that. You are faced with four years of an extremely liberal president. You are faced with at least two years of a liberal democrat controlled congress...and maybe another decade of a liberal leaning supreme court.

McCain should have been president in 2000, not Bush. If that had happened, I doubt the Democrats would have such a sweeping mandate in this election.

The real fun begins on Wednesday.

If Obama wins, it's 4 years of attacks against him by Republicans and also a lot of Democrats who don't get what they thought they were with Obama. He is not a fool and knows that if he delivers on all of the far left promises he made to get the wacko support, he will have to deal with a Republican congress in 2 years and he will be out of office in 4.

If McCain wins, we will hear forever about how he "stole" the election, the electoral college should be done away with, he caused 9/11, etc.

Either way, the real loser continues to be the American people.

I forget where I read it, but McCain initially was going to challenge Bush for his party's nomination in 2004, but after September 11th, thought better of it.
Thought that was interesting.

I agree with Stu - it will be close and I also predict PA will go for McCain.

His coal comments today will doom him in Western PA (Regardless of what he really meant, so please don't tell me he didn't mean it, I know what he meant, but that isn't what has been put out here in PA), well the coal comments and the blathering of John Murtha...it has been on all the local TV and radio stations today...but if Philly comes in hard for Obama, Pennsylvania is his.

I think Obama is going to win, but it is going to be something on the order a 300 total for the electoral college for Obama...but if PA does go to McCain...all bets are off...

Like what?
Approving Bush's wiretaps?
Continuing to fund the war?
Promising to support Israel unequivocally?
Continuing Bush's faith-based government initiatives?
If Dems are lucky, he'll be as radical as Clinton...which is to say not very radical at all.

There is a ticket in 2012...I will work hard to get my own radio show if that happens because a person could make a million dollars easily picking on it...Biden/Palin or Palin/Biden 2012.."Because no level of stupidity is out of bounds!"

aw, i like joe. i saw this speech this morning... typical biden, made me laugh. i believe he is speaking to the good fortune of marrying a girl with many sisters- out of the bunch one is bound to like you.

after reading the story (link) posted by tree i clicked on another link to a joe the plumber story. maybe it's the cold medicine, but what the hell is he talking about???? he's one of those that won't go away  . he's unemployed and broke, but he's buying his boss's business, lol

And I like you Lula, so I won't hold it against you. I've actually never found Biden to be terribly likeable and his comments to Katie Couric (maybe it's Couric who turns everyone stupid) about FDR and TV in 1933 were flippin' RIDICULOUS! The only person in this entire race who can put a sentence together is Obama. Is it really that much to ask for an American politician to be somewhat eloquent? Much to my chagrin, W. has proven that it's not a prerequisite for the job.

Sam the plumber REALLY needs to go the fuck away! The guy is fucking annoying! How McCain thinks this jackass has any value is beyond me. The guy is a fucking plumber and hired an agent! Only in America. Unreal!

On Plumber Joe, fine, their use of him in the beginning, okay, I get it. Now he goes around to a lot of their rallies. He's mentioned in all his speeches. Overkill. To me it was sad for McCain. He started his campaign so differently. But on his behalf, the losing candidate is always more desperate and starts grasping for anything. But I think he jumped the shark on the continual use of Plumber Joe.

I have cast my vote , thank God!!, I have never seen such a heavy turnout so early in our little town and so orderly everyone was greeting each other like we were at a family function. This in the deep south is something amazing. The change has already started and it is so nice. If the rest of MS. is behaving this way then surely this is going to be an amazing election day. :D :D

Right, because Americans are too aroused over their own party's candidate. It usually doesn't even matter where they stand on certain issues, which is sad. It's a reason that we don't usually have "landslide" presidential elections. Hell, the last president that even got more than 50% of the popular vote was Jimmy Carter and he barely got it, with 50.1%.
