Yeah....let's not make him out to be anything other than someone that ran a better campaign than one of the worst republican candidates to ever try to convince people to vote for his sorry ass....

This is why I actually think the reaction to a possible Obama presidency might be worse on the rabid supporter side than people like me. The guy is not going to change the world, the world will not love America again (not until we become the third-world slum his policies could start us down the road on), he will not pay for your gas and mortgage (maybe a nice $1000 tax refund, stolen from honest working people and given to people that haven't paid any income taxes), and he is not going to alleviate all of your pain and suffering. Once this reality becomes clear to the anointers, who the fuck knows how they'll take it?

Just wait a two years...people will be still wearing the Obama superman shirts , but the back of the shirt will be also now printed with the words (dude this shirt is irony, just in case you're too stupid to understand it )

strangegrey wrote:My wife, who's a far better citizen than I will ever be, was a top student through ivy league undergrad and law schools and is a very successful attorney....would make an EXCELLENT candidate for public office for either party. She is smarter than I, she is one of the best writers I've ever known, she cares about the issues that are important to people and has great ideas on how to solve them.

Unfortunately, she will never be able to run for office, becuase she has a cousin (who happens to be a priest of all fucking things) that has been arrested literally hundreds of times for defacing military property in anti-war protests going back over 20 years to the present. This guy has written his own 'mein-kampfs' while rotting in cells, about his persecution. Meanwhile, the so-called 'persecution' he refers to is the fact that he got caught sneaking onto air bases....and dumping red paint on f-16s in anti-war protests.

Just because my wife is related to a cousin we see once every 15 years...she wouldn't survive a campaign like this. Because right-wing psycho douchebags would drag this guys record out onto the campaign for all to see...and she would have to contend with a 'relationship' she doesn't have...with a cousin she doesn't see....

...but the fact of the matter is a person's associations with people are as varried as people themselves. How many of you that will try to tie Obama to Kalidi or Ayers, who don't have distant, sporadic contact with people you haven't seen in 15 years? I dated a girl back in 1991 who likely has been filmed burning a flag....if I run for office, is her actions LONG after I stopped seeing her going to hurt my campaign?

This is one of the many reasons why the right is going to lose this one.....they tried, desperately, to tie Obama to people he may or may not have had significant contact with.....instead of addressing Obama's campaign platform. They refused to explain why Obama's voting record and campaign platform wouldn't be as good a choice as McPains. Instead...they just fucking attacked Obama for tenuous associations....

Meanwhile, Obama never fucking left the issues on the table. Thats ALL he talked about....while McCain refused to talk about them...

I've been fucking saying this for fucking MONTHS now. The republicans need to fucking lose in biblical proportions today....and go home and rethink about the reasons they're on the playing field to begin with. They need a gut check. They need to jetison the Cheney, Bush, McCain types...and redefine a party that means something to people....instead of a party that's designed around making people scared of the other side....

Fuck...why is this so hard for some people to understand!??!

Apparently her relationship won't matter as it hasn't for Obama. Second, a once in 15 years encounter isn't as much of a problem as sitting on the same board and seeing the guy more than that and having the same ideology as him on social issues. Or sitting in the church pews for 20 years.

Thank you Frank. He's just some dude.

I'm going to sit back and daydream of a Mark Warner/John Edwards ticket in 2012... I know it has a snowballs' chance in Hyde Park, but still. 8)

Are you nuts? John Edwards suck to begin with and his career is through. Mark Warner, we'll see.

Edwards is in training for Rocky VII. He will be Sly's rival for the film, a well-coifed departure from the street-tough foes that have preceded him in past films. Early screeners show Edwards chasing ten ambulances up the steps to the Philly Art Museum and dead-lifting Rielle Hunter and Elizabeth in a wheelbarrow.

Maybe as defined by Woodrow Wilson in 1918.
The same liberal scum that wants to put flowers in guns and wave the flag of defeat at first opportunity now wants to launch unilateral wars of pre-emption?
Really?

Tito wrote:Wiretaps are communist.

No, it's totalitarian, and support for such hardline measures comes almost exlusively from the authoritarian right in this country (which is increasingly mainline Republicanism).

Tito wrote:Torture/brutality goes on in many urban police stations as well, allegedly. Those areas are controlled by democrats.

I've never met a liberal who supported torture in my life.
It was Limbaugh who defended torture at Gitmo as some of our boys "blowing off steam", and T-shirts emblazoned with catchphrases such as "I'd rather be Waterboarding" are regularly featured on Conservative websites.

Anyone who thinks the GOP will be licking its wounds tonight because it didn't go far right enough is resigning the party to the slagheap of political history.

Yeah, Travis, I love ya brosky, but the Obama/Superman shit is nauseating.

It's ok, you're but a wee lil tot. It's your first election and you're like a piddling puppy over watching your boy bag the Potus posish.

Considering I know 2 people that are fairly close to him I'd say I know a thing or two about him. But no, I'm not an expert.

Travis, I wish you would have come up with the Obama t-shirt idea sooner. I could have sold THOUSANDS tonight at Grant Park. I could have used the profits to buy more guns. But seriously, you Tony and I could have made a mint.

Come on dude...you're smarter than this. You're telling a guy from Boston that you "know exponentially more about the neigborhood"! No shit Sherlock! That's quite the proclamation. I know more than any neighborhood in Boston than you ever will, but what the fuck does that have to do with anything?

Right, and I know 8 people who are "fairly close" to Ted Kennedy. Again, it means absolutely NOTHING. I think you're a good dude, but please don't make yourself sound far more important than you really are. We don't need any more of those around these parts!

It's an openly far left radical area. What high profile senator would move and remain there unless he didn't agree with the cultural political climate??? I know he agrees with the idealogy of these people.

I'm referring to Alderman Beavers and a gentleman by the name of Paul Hudson who recently passed away. He was my fishing buddy and a pretty big guy in the Chicago democratic circles. I'm not claiming to know more than I know.
