I've never heard Neal say anything derogatory about Perry. He said he doesn't want to work and he talks through lawyers. Seems pretty truthfull to me. I'm still waiting for those quotes.

http://men.style.com/gq/features/full?id=content_6818&pageNum=4

“Oh, y’know,” Schon says. “There’s no legal issue. We just try not to. I mean, I didn’t say anything inflammatory. I didn’t talk about how he still gets paid like a motherfucker even though he shouldn’t be. It’s stuff like that I’m not allowed to talk about. He sorta just bitches and moans and whines about everything. And he just assumes that every time we bring up his name, that we’re sayin’ bad things.”

Derogatory - not exactly. Polite - no. Classy - fuck no!
You're the one who said "He had everyone sign a gag order and they can't say anything bad about each other" - bad =/= derogatory. And I don't see Perry speaking in a similar manner.

Like I said - props to Perry and more to Valory - in public at least they keep it nicey-nicey.
Sometimes the truth hurts. Neal was simply being brutally honest.

Not saying he's wrong, AM saying he's mouthing off in public and Perry doesn't. End of story.

Neal's a fuckin' winner. The guy has been put through hell and put himself through hell, but as the dust settles you have a guy that takes his axe to work every year, still loves what he does and is loaded beyond belief regardless of what people may think. Everyone seems to care about Neal's finances and how many alimony checks he has to pay each month....except Neal!!! The guy still has the skills to pay the bills.

Of course Perry doesn't. It would spell the end of him being the perpetual victim and all but destroy his "woe is me" facade.

Oh for Pete's sake man, what do you want? I said Perry shows some class by not dishing his ex-band mates, you say it's because he got everyone to sign a gag order not to speak badly of each other. BJG points out Schon hasn't obeyed said order, you say he's just telling the truth. I point out that truth or not, Perry is polite in public, Schon isn't. You ask for quotes from Schon where he speaks badly of Perry, I give it to you. You say Schon's being brutally honest, I point out again that Perry is polite in public, Schon isn't. Now it's this! How the fuck does saying Schon/Cain/Valory etc are talented individuals and that he enjoyed his time in the band make him a victim? How the hell does his being polite about them in public say 'woe is me'?

Perry is polite and publically speaks well of his former band mates and I call that classy; Schon bitches about Perry and can't keep his trap shut, I say it isn't classy! Sheesh! Anyone would think you don't want to accept that maybe Perry can show a little class in how he speaks about people he has bad personal history with. Get over it dude.

Bingo. Although not comparing Perry to Bundy 8) There are a lot of people out there that act classy when the cameras or mics are rolling, but are the complete asshole when they are dealing with people in private. I'm by no means trashing Perry. I just think that he should be held to the same standard as everyone else when it comes to how he is perceived.

I was referring to his vague references to "physical issues" he always alludes to. He speaks in codes and has never divulged why he won't sing. He starts to talk about it and always gives the heavy sigh and then beats around the bush to drum up interest, but never fully explains anything. Just his little cat and mouse game.

Specific to Perry's talent Neal seemingly gets a boner when he talks about Perry's time with the band and comes across as fawning over the guy's talents. Neal has never dissed Perry's talent. As a person, more specifically as a bandmate, he thinks the guy's an asshole...and he's not the only one.

Sometimes you sound as dopey as your sidekick Taco Boy. This issue isn't worth debating with you, because you actually believe that most of the fans showing up at Journey concerts know that they are on their 3rd lead singer since Perry. The reality is that many showing up have no freakin' clue. Also, even if they did have a clue, they are there to listen to the music that Perry made famous and to transport themselves back to 1982, even if just for a moment!

Journey hasn't been remotely relevant musically, since Perry left. I don't care about the tours, because many bands sell plenty of concert tickets. I'm talking about relevant in the larger sense, meaning even fans who aren't Journey fans have been hearing their music on the radio since Perry's departure. I don't want to hear about the gay "Adult Contemporary" chart, because it's about as relevant as all of us old fucks on this board talking about a band who hasn't been relevant in almost a quarter century (with the lone exception of "When You Love A Woman").

Johnny is RIGHT ON THE MONEY with this post! Heck, I'm glad they're still playing too, and I dig some of the post Perry stuff alot. But they have but ONE PATH to relevance, and that's WHEN Perry decides to take these guys back. You know it, I know it, and guess what? THEY know it too!

maybe, but Perry had issues with a down-tuned 90-minute show on tour almost 15 years ago. What makes you think he could do a 2hr show, even down-tuned, now????

I think Perry is stuck between a rock and a hard place---either stay silent and let the hardcore fans debate whether you can still sing up to par now, or go back out on the road and possibly prove to the rest of the world that maybe you can't. It's a bad decision either way.

How many dates did he play in the FTLOSM tour before cancelling the rest of it? Does anyone know? It seemed like, if I remember correctly, he played a fair amount of dates and his voice sounded fine until the bronchitis or whatever he had.

Having said that, it's been twelve years. He's 60. A concert tour just is not going to happen. Album maybe.

That the point, if you don't follow them, why are you here. Why did you come here in the first place. That doesn't make any sense.
