Assuming they do tour.....do we all hope for:

An Evening with Journey
Reliable opener in the vein of Frampton,
Some new unknown band playing modern rock
A co-headline tour with someone like Styx
Should they open for a bigger band

I want a big stage show for this next tour.....

I REALLY enjoyed the STYX/REO/Journey lineup.
Otherwise, maybe the Outfield.
Not a big John Waite or Frampton fan.

Eric, all i am hoping for is a show or two in Europe. That would suit me just fine.

Its good to dream though.

I think they did that....unfortunately someone poured it in a glass, named it All the Way, and slapped it on Arrival

Journey would benefit by staying away from REO Speedwagon and Styx...been there done that. Please stay away from has-been Frampton too.

Instead, Journey should open for either The Rolling Stones or U2 for some shows in 2005. If Journey had to be the main event act, then I'd like to see Pat Benatar or Huey Lewis.

The ultimate co-bill would be Duran Duran & Journey, however, Duran Duran doesn't need them.

I think Huey Lewis would be a damn fine opener...good thought...

I don't think Duran Duran and Journey have a thing in common...

U2 fans would boo Journey just as Stones fans did in the early 80's...I can't see that working. Speaking of U2, how did they manage to get themselves seen as a relevant modern rock band while still producing relatively the same sound. They should be who Journey look up to.

That's a VERY good point, Eric! It's because they didn't take 10 years off and they have excellent PROMOTION! That iPod commercial is genius, in my opinion. What better way to promote their new CD? IN YOUR FACE! Heck, Bono and The Edge played an acoustic set at the ceremony for the opening of Clinton's presidential library in Little Rock. It Seems every time you turn around U2 and/or Bono is in your face supporting some political cause or charity...

U2 has staying power for several reasons. Most importantly, the band is still comprised of its original members. Because of that, they've been able to collectively spread their musical wings... to really develop their signature sound, and their songwriting together. Secondly because they have a very savvy manager who is able to come up with genius ideas on how to promote them. Unfortunately, brilliant music is not going to sell if nobody knows about it.

Musically, they have changed a lot over the years, but the music always has been GREAT. Also, they are one of the few bands that have been able to develop over the years... most people who have actually heard all of their albums know that their albums DO NOT sound the same. Listen to BOY, then listen to JOSHUA TREE... worlds apart. Then compare ACHTUNG BABY to POP... and to their last album and the new one... they keep reinventing themselves musically. They keep pushing the envelope. Granted, since it's the same members, there will be stylistic things that they do that are instantly recognizable... but U2 manages to be fresh. Their latest single is good.. it commands attention, and nobody can deny that.

Journey should definitely look at U2 and get ideas. Mostly in the promotions department. I think Journey would sell more today if they were able to find new listeners.... maybe Paul McGuinness is looking to make a few extra bucks.

IMO Joshua Tree is one of the most overrated albums of all time....give me Achtung Baby anytime!
Having said that, I LOVE U2...one of the small handful of bands I WANT to see in concert but haven't yet!

I saw them for the POP tour, and the show was cool. They sounded fantastic... I was just too frickin' far away to be able to enjoy the sights. They had lots of "multimedia" screens on, and you could see some of the concert there... but overall, musically, it was a great show.

I really like the RATTLE AND HUM movie, also. I think that captures some really cool stuff.

Achtung Baby is one of my favorite U2 albums, but the Unforgettable Fire is my favorite. I like the album with two hearts on it too.

I wish U2 would play more of the 1979-1984 material in concert including "40."

I'll be seeing U2 in concert in 2005 so I hope to see you there.

Journey are for the most part headliners with the exception of a few, and I mean very few performers.

If they had to open for anyone, and I think the genre is there, as well as the "classy fan" I would say open for Bruce Springsteen. The only problem is Bruce plays for 4 hours+ by HIMSELF...

How about a joint VH/Journey tour?? Hell Aerosmith and Kiss did it!

Forget what I said about VH touring with Journey. Eddie is just too screwed up. It would be fun having the two bands challenge each other night after night, but..............

Maybe Sammy could bring his Waboritos..I think the genre is there.. Or maybe Def Leppord could come back and tour, I mean open for Journey. Let's face it, as popular as DL were, right now they cannot sell as many tix as the Journey boys.....JMO

No, I am not high, and yes Journey should tour with a band that can draw a new group of fans. The Duran Duran 2005 Tour is going to attract tons of hot looking females in their mid-to-late 30s. Some women that love Duran Duran also loved Journey in the 1980s.

My God, is this the level you think along? "Hot looking girls at a Duran Duran show?" Oh, Journey doesn't draw ANY hot girls do they? Duran Duran is a Euro pop "band, with some members wearing make up for Christ' sake. Journey can do a Hell of a lot better than that....

And No, DD will not draw a ton of people either...They won't play ampitheaters, or arenas...more like large clubs...
