Dude, how's the bus ride going so far? It's great not being a singer isn't it? You can pound beers, Jaegermeisters, and Vodka tonics..Poor Jeff has to be Dry Jeff as he races through the Utah/Nevada desert......hahaha, sorry fucker!
Anyway, a year ago, I wrote an post where I said Journey could possibly do something to attract itself some attention. I said at the time, Steve Augeri, should do a duet with a hot pop chick....That was before I knew he couldn't sing a lick.....So, Bon Jovi obviously read my idea, stole my idea, and promptly went out and found an attractive country western chick, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, recorded "Who Says You Can't Go Home." The result? A cross over new hit, with new fans and continued success.
Translate to Journey. Now that they have an actual singer, this stuff is NOW possible. Neal, I know you want to rock a little more. Well, Let JSS do a pop song.....record a rock CD, a little harder than Generations, and actually produce this next one. I notice Yourself and JSS produced World Play ( Great Job Producing By the Way). Anyway, JSS gets to do a pop song, with a popular female...I am thinking, Melissa Etheridge, Natalie Manes of the Dixie Chicks, or possibly, kelly Clarkston..she can sing mind you. People in the softer genre buy the CD because it has the single on it, and rockers will buy it because of you, Neal....and Journey fans will buy it because they are fans. Then you have others who thought you guys were dead on the tracks, but when they hear the new single on the radio, they too buy it. See where I am going Neal? Dump Grandpa when this tour is over. Keep recording with your new lead singer...keep him off the sauce for awhile...that might be your toughest gig....call me dude....Let's make this happen.
Sincerely,
Rockn'deano

Sorry, Neal, Andrew pulled out from under us, the "sticky" option, so I have to gay it up, and keep replying to myself to keep this up there near the top...
However, notice I didn't "bump" it? That is way too gay.

Two women come to mind when I think of JSS doing a duet. Sheryl Crow always gets airplay, so a duet with her would be huge exposure. Gwen Stefani and JSS would be off the richter. They're both trendy, sexy artists who could probably come up with a kick ass song. And of course a smoking video. That bitch is blazin' hot.

Brilliant! As long as you keep pretending itunes doesn't exist..hehe. Natalie Maines? Have you checked the Dixie Chicks attendance for their tours? Houses are half full! American's have tuned them out. I know their cd is #1, it's going to end up selling probably half what their previous disks did.

That's exactly why I mentioned her. They are getting shut out because of the red state goat ropers...They could use an infusion of the Peurto Rican Flame Thrower.....of course, Neal, Cain and JSS can write it and Journey would play the instrumentation, and Neal could get his trademark catchy as fuck riff in there and lure everyone in....
Are you being fecicious when you say, "brilliant" raider fan?

Just in the fact that 1 hit crossover single will NOT cause a MAJOR increase in cd sales. In the digital era it doesn't happen. Hell even I went legit and started using itunes! I'd still buy a new Journey cd though (If Natalie Maines wansn't on it

)

I have an idea. Why don't they remake one of their old hits like maybe DSB but w/JSS singing it and doing it a bit different? I like the Sheryl Crow idea if she would do it. Get her to do it w/him. I can't see JSS going for a duet w/Natalie or Gwen somehow. I think he might have some respect for Sheryl though.

Money talks and bullshit walks. He would do a duet with ANY of them. They get constant radio play. How much have you heard him on the radio? Not a knock against him, but how could he turn that down?

It's too late for Journey, in my opinion. I'm sorry to say, but I do not see this working.

A little off topic, but this would be a great way for Perry to test the waters. What if HE did a duet with Sheryl Crow or Gwen Stefani? He's praised Stefani on more than one occasion.

I could dig Perry & Stefani. JSS & Stefani..no. Actually Perry w/Stefani might be hot. He could definitely do Sheryl too and that might also be hot. Fuck, Steve could do it w/most girls out there. Maybe even Beyonce or how about Mariah. Steve & Mariah. Yeah, I could see that.

It should be Neal who needs to an album with different kind of singers... his song with Beth Hart on Les Paul and Freinds CD rocks..

I shudder every time I think of or see that woman. I think she's one of the most unattractive celebrities out there.

Exactly. She acts more like a man, like she's big, bad, and tough or something like that.

She sings LIVE, and no silicon. Pretty exceptional these days.

Gwen is absolutely Hot and she can sing!!!
Anything with the Dixie Chicks on it would be an instant negative. They are to polarizing right now and probably for the foreseeable future.
Shania would be a good choice for a crossover. Especially seeing she naturally crosses over all audiences.

Now THAT I can see, JSS and Gwen. Gwen has a great voice, and I think that they'd compliment eachother nicely.

I like her much better with No Doubt than her solo stuff. She definitely has crossover appeal if you are looking for that.
And Yes, Gwen is Hot.

Considering the song "Since You Been Gone" is one of my favorite, embarrassing guilty pleasures and especially after seeing her on-stage with Metal Skool, I would pick the little American Idol darling Kelly Clarkson.
And She can sing her ass off...
