Jeremy..."Suzanne" on youtube

Postby McNeil » Tue Oct 03, 2006 9:55 am

Just on my way to beddy byes... spotted this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCQDt0Bl ... 24&index=3

I havent seen a "tributes" version of Suzanne before.... Jeremy does the biz again here...love his straying away from the actual melody.... as Perry would have done it had he been ad libbing it too

this guy is fantastic.... you want Journey done properly..... you gotta have him...

ok..we have heard all the "clone.. too much like Perry" stuff before.. but the bottom line is...stick this guy next to JSS on the stage.... and he will blow JSS away... and the gods honest truth is... the majority(not the hard liners here) will prefer Jeremy to JSS .. as they want to hear those songs done faithfully.

those "highs" are just toast for this guy.. he shits them for brekky !!

The guy is definitely good. Sounds a lot like Perry in parts of that. Definitely doesn't look the part of rock star, though.

Hey...I say good for Jeremy. The guy has a good set of pipes! He just looks like an average dude up there singing his ass off, and that's not a horrible thing. I just think if he ever wanted to go big time, his look would probably hold him back. That's just how the music industry is. It's NEVER just about the music or the talent! Hell, you've heard JSS talk about that very issue on these boards.

Well that's right. I wouldn't worry too much about that. Look at Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Toto's lead singers... honestly, not the best lookin bunch of frontman, pretty average in terms of looks and probably more people who are not fans would call ugly or just "cute". What's looks have to do with Rock? honestly... look at Mick Jagger for a start! :) at the end of the day, looks mean nothing! because it's all about personality, charisma which Perry has, and if people like ya - then that's all it takes.

It's hard to stomach Bon Jovi sometimes, when old singers try to look "sexy, and young" its nasty. Just stay true to yourself, and keep the red leather pants at home!.

For what it's worth, I actually wasn't judging how attractive the dude was! I'm into chicks and DISGUSTINGLY heterosexual, so that definitely was NOT my angle! I was making the point that Jeremy looked more like my accountant than some guy in a rock band! That's what I meant by looking the part! Perry may not have been the prettiest face on the planet, but the guy certainly looked like a musician. In any event...I think Jeremy sings well and he sounds like he has pretty good range.

Dio is reforming with Black Sabbath. Great news! They may go under the name "Heaven & Hell" though. That bitch Sharon Osbourne may be holding the rights to the name.

RONNIE JAMES DIO To Reunite With TONY IOMMI, GEEZER BUTLER And BILL WARD Under The Banner HEAVEN & HELL
Posted on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 12:27:57

Even though their respective managements have not officially released any information, Rafabasa webzine in Madrid, Spain is reporting exclusively that starting in June, 2007 there will be a reunion tour of a group going by the name HEAVEN & HELL.

At this time, there are no dates confirmed, but the tour booking agent is offering the band to the promoters of the most important heavy metal festivals taking place next year.

Under the name Heaven & Hell you will find TONY IOMMI, RONNIE JAMES DIO, GEEZER BUTLER and BILL WARD.

Evidently if everything is confirmed, they will be playing a set consisting of music from every single CD that Ronnie James Dio performed with BLACK SABBATH, to include Heaven & Hell, Mob Rules, Live Evil and Dehumanizer.

The reunion cannot tour under the name Black Sabbath, or BLACK SABBATH WITH DIO, due to the fact that the copyright of the name is the property of OZZY OSBOURNE and his wife/manager Sharon Osbourne.

Thats good news mate. These guys are still around, wow. Yeah there's some new Ronnie James Dio interview on Youtube, done a few months ago - I think he talks about some new albums in the works, some re-done classics and stuff like that - thanks.

I appreciate that Mac digs what I do, but I'm just a normal guy like anyone else on this forum, so Mac, I want to be gracious & appreciative that you enjoy the show, but at the same time I don't want to be put up against this guy or that guy - I'm doing what I do for my own personal enjoyment, both out of singing these songs, and out of connecting to the people I'm performing for.

John, I get what you're saying. However, one of the things that kept me going over the years when people would say I didn't have a certain "look" or whatever, was knowing that guys like Perry or Mercury or Halford, or most of the other guys who've inspired me, let their voice stand for itself. My earlier reply was very tongue in cheek, but let's face it, I've been in the music business for 20 of my 35 years, and I've seen plenty of guys that "looked" like a musician from the long hair and the bare chests and bear-claw earrings, and couldn't sing their way out of a paper cup. It's never bothered me. But when you're a normal guy working an executive sales job 50 hours a week (yes, my competitors are at golf tournaments while I'm on stage at a festival somewhere), you do what you got to do. Besides. I'm not exactly poon-starved anyway, and in the end, isn't that what it's all about?
