Journey - bigger stage show?

Now I realize that Journey doesn't need a mega stage show like Pink Floyd, The Stones or anything. However, with Jeff in the band, wouldn't it be cool to have some ramps for him to do his thing since he's so active on stage. Maybe some lasers or a little pyro? (They did use it sparringly with Steve Perry). I just never thought the stage production over the years has been that much.

I'd like to see a scarab behind the stage with lights, definitely some ramps that extend out from the stage at each corner and that wrap around the drum kit.

And most definitely I'd like to see a much more dramatic entrance when they come out onto stage.

Just thinking of ways to spice up an already smoking live band. Of course a bigger production would mean playing bigger venues, which I think we all hope they might be able to do down the line.

Got some good ideas there, AR. I do hope that they have a new "stage" the next time they tour ! :D

Thanks!

Hey it's actually time to start discussing Journey and the future. Now that the bullshit is over, there are real things to talk about.

Sick pictures and comedy have their place, but not right now.

I would love to see the big stage and production. If nothing else have a couple ramps for JSS and a better entrance on stage. If they use a video screen, actually produce some good graphics and footage, plus have a video camera man shooting live at all shows.

Keep in mind that is big budget stuff I'm mentioning of course. There are smaller things they can tweak to take advantage of the new lineup and a better visual representation in the meantime. However, I would love to see a big budget production if the new lineup takes off in a big way.

All of these things would be nice to see, especially giving Jeff more room to roam around

Hopefully, the next Journey tour wil be ALL Journey so they could have their own stage setting.
I didn't like the fact that this last tour Journey had to settle for a poorer stage set up than Leppard's.

So next time what I would love to see, besides big screens, pyros and mindblowing lights, would be something special for Deen.
His drums should be put on a mobile device which, for example, could move him together with the drum set toward the middle of the stage while he sings the ballads.
That would have a nice visual impact on the audience and would put Deen in a well deserved spotlight while performing.
If he can't get away from the drums why not take the drums with him? 8)

Or his drum set could be lifted above the stage, but not too high,lol...
Although spectacular, what Tommy Lee and Alex Van Halen were doing back in the days during their drum solos was way too dangerous! However, they were not singing,so they could afford the wild ride.

That's the kind of stuff I'm suggesting. Good post.

The band deserves a 1st class stage production. I've yet to really see that.

One of the all time classic movies! Most bands hate it, because it is way to close to the truth.

I remember Steven Tyler saying something about being upset about that movie when it first came out.

I'd like to see the scarab reach out and pick Jeff up above the stage during "Wheel in the Sky" a la Rob Halford!!

I would like to see an anamatronic scarab, like the one on the cover of Time 3, where it's wings open and the band jumps out in a shower of sparks and pyromania! Then I'd like to see the scarab use that drill bit thing it has on it's face and burrow into the stage!! What is wrong with that idea??

We'll see if they take that idea at the Virginia 400th anniversary celebration. If they don't, then hey - Fair's fair, guys but I'll be all over that idea.

Shit, could you imagine fitting an anamatronic scarab on the stage at Clarendon Grill!??

Azoff,

I will personally build you a bitchin assed stage. Ramps, fuckin tiers, platforms, the whole 300 yds.

Get me some day labourers (Mexicans) and have em out in Thousand Oaks by 700A Wednesday ( I am taking Tuesday off to beat JSS's ass in hoops).

I will get you a state of the art stage. The lights you have already will be fine for backdrop, but for the love of Reardon, change that fuckin Atari video and get with the program. Watching Dead or Alive video was like watching two Nuns jerk off President Reagan.

I can add a post with a noose on it so we hang Rich Meyers....by his balls.

Im sure Def Leppard would sell them their old Hysteria Stage Set Up...lasers...4 front rows....... or maybe Motley Crue would sell them their Girls Girls Girls Stage Set Up with the Rotating Drum Set.......lol

I think the best we can hope for is a Nice Edited Video package with a Large Screen behind them. Maybe some Ramps and added lighting. But thats only if they Headline their next US Tour. Remember, it costs a ton of money for Big Production and in order to do that they need a large tour and succesful CD to tour behind. Last Summer/Fall was a nice start, but getting those numbers by themselves is unlikely right now. A Big CD would get them out there and put them in the puiblic eye for sure. TV, Radio, etc etc...... i would hate to see another Arrival happen....Great Songs and no support from the Record Company. What a waste.

my 2 cents...

They should definitely do something like this for the live videos that Neal talked about. They've got a real performer with them again, give him a stage that will showcase his charisma.
