I doubt it. Never has been their "style". They took a break during the off time instead of doing any promo apparantly. Once the tour firse up I doubt we will see anything other than the CBS thing. Too bad really. I honestly believe that they ought to hit the shows occassionally. There should have been one during this week off to promote the start of the tour and the CD playing AATY and maybe a classic. Jimmy Kimmel would have been good for this with his "garage". Then they do the CBS show later this month. Middle of August they should turn up on another show. When are the on the west coast or east coast. Plan the TV appearances around the tour cities. But don't blitz the TV. Just pop up once in a while.

Look for some radio interviews in corresponding tour cities. I know that one or two are already lined up.

Anybody know if they will be shooting any videos? Man, VH1 would jump all over AATY for the top 20 countdown. With the airplay Journeys getting right now a video should be released, and I dont mean just concert footage from the DVD.

I think a 10 city CD signing at Wal Marts in the really big cities would be a fantastic idea. Maybe even play an acoustic song or two. 8)

Does anyone even watch VH1 or MTV anymore? I haven't in years.

I was mentioning this before the album came out.
Think about it...

There are Walmarts EVERYWHERE you look.
The band/Management/Walmart should of worked up
a major promotion plan, with the guys doing signings
at different Walmarts in some of the major markets over the
course of the first week of release. I know they had the European tour
kicking off but, man, a promotional tour/blitz like that coulda almost doubled
thier sales.

Now I'm not one to really care if the album gets Gold status or if it's legit.

but I DO like seeing Journey on the charts again and seeing them
getting some popularity in the mainstream media/public again!

I hate this tactic but some places state that the band will only autograph merchandise bought in the store at that time. That certainly would boost sales of the CD.

Woo, lord I'd be pissed if I took my copy of Revelation that I bought at Walmart and they wouldn't sign it because I didn't buy it on that very visit. Of course, getting one signed that's unopened would actually be the better thing to do, plus, it's $11.88.

Yeah, I would be pissed too. Like I said, it would be a sure fire way to increase CD sales. And for only $12 it could work easily. But this is not a suggestion, just an example! ;)

Minor note: while it technically qualifies (not going to debate the merits here of RIAA's rankings), it isn't actually "official" yet. The RIAA has not given such an award, according to the database. The last award was a 15x platinum award for GREATEST HITS which was given in April of this year.

WHY NOT? I say strike while the iron is HOT and it's VERY HOT right now! It's very hard to sell a record nowadays as it is, unless you promote the shit out of it and of course get the lame ass radio stations to play the new stuff!

that's easy. buy another copy and let them sign both copies. then you have the option to sell the other copy with autograph for $15. it's a good deal since the Journeymen are not that easy to find these days.
