GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Brett Favre is considering coming out retirement, according to an ESPN report.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen says a Green Bay Packers source told him the 38-year-old Favre told coach Mike McCarthy in the past two weeks that he has the itch to play.

The Packers' former quarterback retired March 6 after a 17-year career.

Cornerback Al Harris said on ESPN's NFL Live that Favre also made similar comments to him.

"I know he has the itch to come back and play," Harris said. "If he will or not, I don't know."

he must HATE HOME LIFE with Deanna NAGGING him all day long to do his own laundry!!

I would be a little ticked if i were Aaron Rogers. If HE comes back... that would be amazing...
whether it would be a smart move??? he will soon find out at 2 a day practices.

Oh, good grief, Charlie Brown! Has Favre caught the "I can't stay retired" bug from Michael Jordan and Roger Clemens?

again i am a packers fan not a favre fan---only a favre fan because he played for the packers...

I will hate him if he goes to any team other than GB.

I'm a big packer fan also. I personally think that Brett retired to soon. I know it was the packers that wanted that new conference not Brett. Brett wanted to wait a few weeks. I hope he does come back to the packers. After what Aaron said about the fans. Aaron deserves to play second for a while yet.

Hmm...I have mixed emotions about this. Granted, if he could maintain the level that will obviously be expected by the team/fans, then hell yeah C'MON BACK BRETT!!!

On the other hand, as mentioned above, there is still that Jordan un-retiring kind of factor to deal with. To be fair though, Jordan did take a couple seasons off and his game definitely suffered for it at least for a while, whereas Favre could just come back like nothing happened to a new season. Should be interesting either way.

I can't wait for football to start up again, thats for damn sure! :D

Well, yeah, but you know what I mean... they both beat around the bush on whether they're retired or not. Brett ponies up though.

Advantage: Favre.

If Brett really wants to come back, he should do it as the backup. That way, there is minimal disruption to the team and he can still contribute by helping Rogers develop as the starter. Plus there is a good chance that he will play since few QBs are able to play a whole season.

 Yeah no doubt youd never get away with saying something like that there :!: … Reminds me of a story , a few years back I was driving from Michigans U.P to Minnesota and stopped in Green Bay en route. Put gas in my car, got a filthy look,
stopped off at Taco Bell, and the guy gave me dirty look like I ought to start running for the border. Then Im sitting in the booth quietly eating my burrito and someone comes up to me and says, hope you choke buddy.

Im saying to myself WTF? Why is everyone an ass around here. I went to the mens room for a leak, and caught sight of myself in the mirror and then realised why. I had forgotten I was wearing a Vikings jersey…..and the good folks of green bay took that as criticism of their Packers- just don’t put up with that up there!
