Whatever this means. Here is Spin Magazine's take on it. I must be really old or really young, because I haven't heard of half of these bands. Also, when the hell did Bruce Springsteen become a "band"???? I realize that he has the E. Street Band in back of him, but as far as I can tell, he's always been a solo artist!

Arcade Fire? The Clash? What a lame list.... :?

Who are The Hold Steady anyway? Never heard of 'em...

The Arcade Fire and The Clash are good bands, but nowhere near anthemic enough to even SNIFF this list.

U2, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and The Killers are all acceptable choices.

However, Oasis? Friggin' A, such an overrated band... Never even heard of The Hold Steady or The Waterboys and I know some obscure shit.

By that guy's definition, shouldn't Quit Riot fall into this category?

Does it piss anyone else off that some refer to The Clash as "the only band that matters"? Give me a break!

My list of anthemic bands would have to include (in no order)

Journey
Queen
Boston
Van Halen
Quiet Riot
Skid Row
Judas Priest
King Diamond

I could get into King Diamond's music if it weren't for the over-the-top banshee-type wailing that guy does along with the overtly occult/satanic lyrics.

You might have heard a Waterboys song - called "The Whole of the Moon" - classic.

Most likely Dokken, especially with their killer harmonies!
