Favorite Journey Tour?

I've seen Journey on every tour since the loss of The Voice (luckily caught him on the FTLOSM tour) sans the current one (Sept) and would have to say that the Red13 tour was my personal favorite. I caught them at the Springfield, IL state fair show and the sound totally sucked, but the energy and song selection was rockin'! Loved Red13 live, not so much on the recording.
I know it's probably like picking a favorite child and seating probably has a lot to do with it, but was curious what key element really does it for you? Setlist? Vocalist? Energy?
Can't wait to see in a couple months!

Wasn't there two Vacations Over tours? '98 and '99 or something like that? Augeri was definitely at his finest then...I remember being disappointed with the 2001 DVD because I thought I could recall him doing better live during the previous tours...plus NO DRUM SOLO!! Ugh!! lol

You lucky bastards! lol I was still in diapers for the Infinity tour..I do remember tearing into my dad's LPs and staring at Zep's House of the Holy, Steely Dan's Countdown to Ecstasy, Camel, Dust, and Journey's Evolution ...those covers can really spark a 4-year olds imagination! lmao

Vacation's Over - it was my first opportunity to see them on stage, something I didn't think would happen for the years before that. After 2 years of waiting after TBF's release, it was just the greatest thing ever for me. Length of show really allowed for a great mix of songs.

I have to go with ROR. The setlist was so diverse.....from what I have seen, the whole tour was somehow different from the others. For the last 12-13 years, I have been dying for a full video recording of this tour. My audios from this tour are awesome, but I am dying to SEE what they were doing during this incredible tour.

Escape. It was my first, and for me the best. Would have loved to have seen them when Rolie was in the band though. My answer might be different.

Escape tour, without the Stones. I enjoyed them immensely when Greg Kihn opened for them at the Philadelphia Spectrum. When they opened for the Stones at JFK earlier that year, as my first concert It wasn't a pleasant experience for me (or the Foreigner fans either) being surrounded by Tatoo You fans. The Frontiers tour at JFK is a close second but the weather was humid as hell and Steve's voice was starting to show some wear by that time.

ive seen them every tour since escape.
so escape was the best.
but post perry - they did 2 shows in the us when they first reformed with SA, and they played louisville KY.
and even if the mix was muddy because of the venue, they rocked, and we didnt have to deal with any of the perry B@@lS88T,
and for the ROR people, come on that wasnt journey that was a steve perry solo show with neal and jon as guest stars.

I loved the Frontiers tour, which was my first Journey show. However, gotta pick the Generations tour. Come on - three hours of music! Stuff I've never heard before or since in the other ten times I've seen them! A free CD! This show was a Journey fan's dream!

I never got to see Perry live...so I will have to say
1999 Vacations Over
2006 with JSS
Can't really compare the two...Both very different, but both very good.

Were you working for them back then? Where do the Escape and Frontiers tours rank?

I did not attend any of the shows back in the day, but I would probably say the Escape and Frontiers tours would've been the best. The ones I've seen, I would say the Vacation Over Tour '98 and the 30th Anniversary 2005 tour.
I still say and I know I'm going to get BLASTED for this, but I like the song, She's Gone Crazy.

(I'm on vacation but I FLUFFIN LOVE THIS SONG!! It's my fav of the album. I changed my phone number--make a note--1-800ROSSFREAKINROCKS. my favorite tour was the 3 hour--singing the REAL journey stuff--i.e. Journey, Next, Look Into the Future. oh schutt--i just keep asking for a beating, don't I??? let me have it. i'm ready

1980 departure... BY FAR... too long ago to remember too much just that the music was amazing back then.
1983 frontiers... 1999 vacations over...
2001 tour was amazing... target center show that year was killer.
2004 tour heard precious time...
and loved 2006 tour with JSS.

From what I've seen live I have no other options but the 2006 tour with JSS.
From the video and audio I've seen and heard, while the Augeri years have held up surprisingly well to me I'd have to go with either Departure or RoR.
