In the latest issue of Classic Rock Neal is questioned on Augeri and Soto.

Classic Rock wrote,
Shortly after the 06 Monsters of Rock Journey played Sweden rock, it was here that an eagle eared Scandanavian sound engineer speculated that Steve Augeri might be lip synching. When quizzed on this again Neal said' Y'know, people get in trouble and they do what they gotta do to get through shows' Augeri had serious problems with his vocals,he had a yeast infection in his throat that was incurable.'He couldn't get the gunk off his throat so he couldn't get anything out of it'
So Journey were atually trying to bolster up Augeri by the use of extra added vocal assistance shall we say?
'No comment you will have to talk to Augeri about it,this is such old news'

Regarding Jeff Scott Soto
'Jeff did a great job, he came in got us through a US tour and got paid very very well for it' .'But personality wise he was not right'. 'After we asked him to leave it got nasty and he decided to sue us'

Makes for intereresting reading Neal goes on to talk about Arnel and how they will write together in the future and how Steve Perry 'Wants nothing to do with us,its been like that for years' regarding any thought of a reunion. 8)

I've heard a rumor floating around maybe a year back about that issue of Soto's personality not fitting in very well with the other band mate characters. Looks like Neal confirmed that rumor as if to say he wasn't a good fit behind the scenes as well.

Looks like the band is back on track and hopefully stays this way for some time.

Man...my personal opinion of NS just fell down about "ten notches".

No wonder Perry wants nothing to do with "Journey Mach II"

Neal...also, if you read this. PLEASE, do something about your current guitar tone.

Too PROCESSED!!!! Go back to the "beginning" and plug a darn LP DIRECTLY into a Bassman or a good Marshall and turn it up!

You sound your best doing this.

Now...go work on your personality will ya?

Pretty interesting if you ask me. Guess the people that claimed he wasn't a good fit for them weren't that far off after all. Didn't realize that he sued.

People "in the know," any truth to the JSS remarks at all?

I'm guessing Steve A. is pretty comfortable after his tenure in Journey.

Well didn't he already have the nod from neil and a contract signed? If so he had every right to sue them to be paid in full for the contract!

Is JSS actually suing the guys? If so, I'm not sure I support that any more than the way they handled his dismissal. Just move on, for crying out loud.

True, he is asked about the singers all the time, but... its completely understandable WHY he is asked... I mean, how many other other bands that are/were as big as Journey was changed singers THIS many times? And in such a short period too, with little or no explanation. It leaves people wondering, so course there are going to be questions.

Nope, it's guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave/The Nightwatchman.

I would think any lawsuits are finished or Neal wouldn't even bring it up.
I guess we can add JSS to the list of people in Neal's world that got "paid like a motherf'ker"

Yes he did. But that is something in the unknown column. I'm sure they took whatever he was owed from an existing contract into consideration when they let him go. If it were me, and I had the resources, I'd sue just to be a pain the ass with the way they handled letting him go. May not be right, but one can understand why you would want to sue since they didn't have the common decency to communicate one on one with him, given how he bailed them out.

He looks like an F1 driver or some such. Not your typical rock star look for sure.

As for Schon's comment about asking Augeri - what use is that when Augeri isn't allowed to say anything? Interesting remark about JSS though.

Perhaps they felt communication had already broken down, who knows?

Maybe so. I still think a simple phone call would have sufficed. Like I said, may not have been right or even a strong case for him to bring. I'd just do it to let them know that if they wanted to publicly humiliate me, it can work both ways. Although in this case, doesn't appear many knew about it. Perhaps the man just wanted what he thought he deserved.

that comment strikes me kinda funny....Jeff is widely known to be one of the good guys in the biz....Both with musicians and fans alike.

Actually just because his personality did not mix well with the band, doesn't mean they said he wasn't one of the good guys in the business. NS never said he was a bad guy.

This is what I'm not getting:

'After we asked him to leave it got nasty and he decided to sue us'

The last I recall, as posted by JSS himself, Jeff was never asked or told to leave, or told anything by the band at all before it happened. Either I missed something, which I know is highly possible, or this is more of Neal's increasingly amusing perception of the world around him.

Or the side we all "know" could be just one side of The Great "HOW THEY HANDLED IT" Debate.

I think NS means 'We', as in 'Management'...
