Vote your least favorite band member off the Journey island.

OK, here's your chance to play God.

Put a member of Journey on the chopping block, send him packing without notice and a paycheck!

Pick your victim and cite your reason(s).

Alright, that's 5 fucking votes and no one has the balls to justify their votes, eh?

I voted Jon Cain, no doubt he wrote awesome tunes for the band, but Rolie and Perry doing duets ranks higher to me. And I just like the sound Rolie brought to the band. But don't get me wrong I do like Cain.

A noble cause, make the tribe speak for Cain so Rolie can return and invoke serious ass kicking on the rest of Journey Island...

I voted for Neal. Just because I think he is a despicable human being!! :D

I'd love for Steve Perry to come back or for Kevin Chalfant to get his shot, or maybe for JSS to get thrown back into the mix, but since Arnel's doing a decent job and is living the dream of a lifetime.... he gets spared.

Neal Schon is Journey. 'nuff said. The melodic savant stays.

While I briefly considered axing Valory in favor of a more versatile and dynamic bassist, he's been there since the start with Schon and the guys seem to have good chemistry with him. Ross returns..

The only way I'd dump Castronovo is if Smitty decided to come back, which seems as impossible as Perry returning. Plus, he has a Journeyesque tenor voice... could end up being very valuable.

Jonathan Friga-Cain, you have been eliminated from Journey. Please grab your things and leave. The tribe has spoken.

An established songwriter, yes. A phenom behind the keys and a workmanlike rhythm guitar player, indeed. Acceptable background vocals, sure. However, the levels of douchebagginess and disdain for fans displayed by Cain are appalling. He seems to be the "weakest link" in the band in terms of pure chemistry, and has been responsible for several of Journey's bubblegummiest songs and lamest moments.

That's why I could vote off Jonathan Friga-Cain.

But (in my opinion) Neal is the least replaceable of the existing band members.

I voted off the Frigster.

If you vote off Neal, you take away the last vestige of the legacy.

If you vote off Deen, you lose a hell of a voice and he's fun to watch play the drums!

If you vote off Ross, that would be mean because he was there from the beginning.

If you vote off Arnel, you would just be keeping up the tradition of trashing lead singers like so many Burger King wrappers.

Bye Jon!

My top candidates for replacing Cain would be:

Mark Kelly (Marillion)
Fitz (Night Ranger, Van Halen ghostplayer)
Greg Phillinganes (Toto, Michael Jackson, session work)
Jim Rykbost

and, of course, the #1 candidate, who I would offer a healthy contract and many incentives shall he choose to return....

GREGG ROLIE!!

Have you not read many of the recent interviews, articles, and radio show quotes where Cain has come off as being very condescending to fans, or has straight-up dissed them?

There are also many personal accounts of Cain being a massive prick that have been shared on MR and beyond.

Neal provides the band's soul, Friga the songwriting, Deen the harmonies and Arnel the voice. Ross, while a huge part of the rythym section, is probably the least valuable. Though a great bassist and an important part of the band's history, I'd have to respectfully ask Mr. Valory to leave the island...with one year of full pay, though!!!

I voted off Deen... I'm sorry Deen. Listen, you're awesome. Really. But in my fantasy land your vacancy brings back Smitty.

Neal is irreplaceable.
Ross, he's put his life into this band.
Jon stays, he's as much Journey as Neal and Ross are.
Arnel, I just adore the batshit out of the dude.

None of the the above or other - John Toomey  . Actually, I'd keep him so none of the above.

The only people I would replace would be Deen or Arnel AND that would be ONLY FOR THE RETURN OF PERRY AND SMITH. Elsewise, they all stay. I did not vote.

well, the original rules established by the original poster is "without notice or paycheck"

So Valory would, in your case, Dan, step off the tourbus at a rest stop, the door would close behind him and they would drive off down the road, likely stopping a few miles down the road to a pre-arranged place to pick up Jack Blades or someone like him...

...with ross running after the bus going WTF!

Indeed, yet who is more valuable to the Journey direction and sound?

Cain has only been around since 1981 and has only been a part of one of the three "main eras" of the Journey legacy sound.

Neal has been on every Journey track and at every Journey show. His guitar defines the sound more than any other facet of the band. He's been through the prog era, the more "organic" era, the Cain era, and will be there until the band hangs up once and for all.

As big of a tool as he may be, Neal would be hardest to replace.. and it wouldn't quite be Journey without him.

Lukather and Satriani are divine candidates for Neal replacement, but, like I said.... it wouldn't be Journey.

Jack Blades would be an excellent choice. He can sing, write kick-ass melodic rock songs, and holds his own on the four-string.

Also, ProgRocker53 would be a decent pick to replace Valory. While he lacks vocal ability, ProgRocker53 writes lyrics like it was his business, has cut his teeth playing Journey and related band (Van Halen, Toto, Styx) songs.... and would humbly accept minimum wage pay to live out his dream.

He took an accurate shot at a couple of troublemakers. As far as blwing off the fans, I don't know what the situation(s) was. I'd probaby do the same thing, I did it yesterday as a matter of fact. When the retarded kid worker at Burger King started to talk to me, I said, "Yeah" and then ignore him. Sometimes you don't want to be bothered.
