Sorry about the crappy photography...
Got my copy at Astroplus.

Record store says it first shipped last Friday, in small volume.
Volume should ramp up, but with pirated discs having been available
within days of the US release... for a lower price, and furthermore
with the Vegas concert DVD and (lately) the Euro bonus track included....
I dunno. They missed the boat methinks.

No promotion that I know of, no radio spots, no TV ads, nothing in print.
I only clued into the album's availabilty because Astroplus was playing
the Faithfully redo, faintly over its PA.

Just throwing it out there, FYI.

Gave it a listen, and while some of the new material is quite nice, I'm afraid
my initial opinion on the retreads (based on the early Walmart clips) stands.
Most of those redos are some fucking vile shit: OTY excepted, and maybe
WCN and 2 others being passable stuff.

Cheers,

Thats weird, do you all have DVD players?

Yeah, pretty much.
Even those living in shanties have 'em.

Only cost 40-70 of your USD apiece if you shop right.
Those Chinese companies you outsourced DVD-player manufacturing to
have made a fine living off of selling unbranded generic equipment all
over East Asia.

:?: Will MCA be the distributor for all of the Asia/Pacific region...Japan, China, Australia, as well?

Andrew, has Revelation officially been released in Australia yet?

Yes, and ironically the cheaper generic DVD players are multi-region.

Don't DVD formats change from one continent to the next?
I don't think the discs & players were ever universal.
Maybe this has something to do with it...or maybe that Asian market just required something different, kinda like the bonus song for Japan and other countries.

So far they released 2 singles (if I'm not mistaken) with AP on vocal, have 10 new songs, yet they're promoting only the classics on that package sticker. Its been my observation, based on EVERY CD I've ever bought, that the packaging promotes the newest singles/material.

Hope those coat tails aren't speeding along to fast for ya, boys. Better hold on.

Even Best buy sells region free players. They don't advertise it but some of them come from the factory like that, Pioneer, Phillips etc. or you can input a free code by using your remote control for some of them.

Ballads have always been the rage in the R.P. when it comes to rock music on the majority of radio stations. It is an import so they are gonna list the songs that are most recognizable to their consumer in that area. I'm sure the majority of people there have never or very rarely heard Wheel in the sky, Ask the lonely or Stone in love. To them, they're not retreads at all. From what I heard on the radio when I lived there, 30 to 40 percent of their music is revisons as they like to call it. You'll hear 10 songs from the original artist ( R.P. singer Ray Valera for example) sung by 20 different artists but usually in a different style and it will sell. They're not hung up as much as we are when it comes to remakes.

Look BJG, I did all that with no Quotes
:D

You're talking about DVD regional coding, which is a non-issue for owners of generic
Chinese DVD players. (Well, not really generic --they sport "brands" like Orange, Image, etc.)

These generic DVD players, sold here in East Asia, have either a built-in hard switch
for changing the machine's regional coding recognition an unlimited number of times,
or else have auto-recognition and switching built in. Pop in any disc, it'll play.

All the bells and whistles, from amped 5.1ch ports to a USB port for mp3player playback,
for only $40-$70. Costs more for the "generic" BluRay machines, but still a tiny fraction
of what you'd pay for legit brands.

Anway, I'm afraid the Filipino market for Journey's Revelation is already sated via pirated CD's
and downloads. They fucked up big time on this one -- even at $11+ a pop, they could have
moved a half-million genuine units of Revelation easily. Now I doubt they'll even move 50,000.

The pirated "WalMart pack + bonus track" only costs $4.50 and is pretty easy to find.
Dowloading the same content is practically free, and burning it to discs nearly so.
The real deal Revelation? It has no DVD, is hard to find, costs $11.20, and
IT ISN'T EVEN BEING ADVERTISED here by MCA-Universal.

Now can I say it?

"Pigfuckers."
