OT:Joe Elliot has no right to put down ANY band (audio link)

This fucktard is talking shit about other band and from a musicians point of view this is as classless as it gets. No fucking cooth... I have the NAKED vocal track from Bringing On The Heartbreak. No effects, no nothing.. Dry as a bone. This was when he was in his "PRIME" ok.... He has only made it as a singer because of overdubs, effects, creative mixing techniques and backing tracks... Listen below and you will see what I mean... The only music you hear is the bleed through from his headphones. Enjoy... haha

That was frankly sh!t  To be fair it sounds tons better with reverb or whatever on the actual finished track as most things do. Loving the auto tuning on some of the most basic vocal lines though!

"Ta-kin' owwn the best of me"!

Now please can we have the Steve Perry Trial By Fire vocal tracks...

Trouble with Joe is this, he has the look of a rock star, he's sellable, they'll always work around the voice to make the bucks. Thanks for the link, it's something most of us expect to hear.
If we opened this style of scruntiny with other bands who would you list as being in the same stable as Joe?

He has the look of a plumber. Albeit a very, VERY rich plumber.

That didn't sound any worse than any other average rock singer out there. It is what it is.

I kinda thought the same, but Joe's still a bit of a dick. He smokes, he drinks and he sings, I do two of the same, that's why I don't sing

He sounds great as far as I'm concerned. He's no Steve Perry but his voice is still very good.

I have to tell you LD...I actually just listened to it, and it sounds a hell of a lot better than most would sound, singing to zero instruments. I'm not going to kill Elliot, because I've always been a fan of Def Leppard. Pyromania and Hysteria are two of the best albums, EVER, released by ANY band! I certainly don't really get Joe's need to have a war of words with other people in the industry. Maybe the dude is just getting grumpy in his old age.

I'll still ALWAYS respect the hell out of that band. The guys in Journey could learn something from the loyalty the guys in DL showed when their drummer lost an arm! I know absolutely nothing about drumming but have been in awe of Rick Allen since the dude started drumming with one arm...Absolutely AMAZING!

I think it sounds shite and liked them up to pyromania. After that all shite IMO. I love Bringin on the heartbreak myself its just that based on his performance he has no business putting down anyone. Pour Some Sugar and Lets get rocked was fucking garbage. IMO almost as bad as We built this city..... Ewwww shudder..

I didn't care much for Pour Some Sugar On Me. WAY too bubblegum pop for my taste. I really hated Let's Get Rocked. That said, as a whole, I thought Hysteria was a VERY good album, and Hysteria (the track) is one of the best songs, EVER! If you ever get your hands on the Hysteria documentary DVD, there is a bonus clip on there with just Joe and Phil Collen playing guitar (non electric) and singing Hysteria. It's a GREAT performance with no artificial enhancements!

I've got it and it's one of my favorite versions of the song. :-)

You have impeccable taste, my friend! Nobody will listen to that performance and come away thinking Joe couldn't sing (then). It was a VERY raw performance, and he sounded great. The guy was never Perry, but I always liked his voice.

I fail to see how that is any worse (not even close) than some of the recent live (actually live) TV performances.

The Video Game Awards and the VH1 Rock Honors were HORRIBLE.

Thank God they sounded better live over the last couple of tours.

Truth is, as much as Joe has never had the greatest of pipes, he is slowly becoming one of the most recognizable voice in rock. I love everything the Leps put out.

Yeah Joe looks like hell nowadays. Fat and wrinkled. His voice is definitely shot too. But, in spite of all that, they're still a blast to see live.

Canned Heat......

Bachman Turner Overweight as Burton Cummings used to call them in his Randy feud days :)

Great band nonetheless though. Meat n potatoes rock n roll at its best. Randy is one of the most underrated axemen in the biz. He's really never gotten his due, ever.

What did Herbie say? When Leppard comes onto the stage, you know they're rockstars.

I didn't know that Pete Willis was one of the primary writer on Leppard's first three albums. If he hadn't got tossed for drinking, I wonder if they would have gone in a different direction musically after Pyromania.

You may not like Nelson, but those dudes can out sing just about anyone. It is a shame that they were built around the pretty boy image because they are seriously talented singers.

Almost naked. Definately some reverb, but you get the idea. Their Dad's song and one of the best songs, period!

His vocals sound amazing for "Def Lep". The link just proves just how good he was back then. And why his voice was shot. ;)
