Journey in Atlanta....

Whussup peeps!!!! Just back from Atlanta for Journey, Heart, and Cheap Trick last Saturday night. Sold out crowd, 2 nights straight!!!! Let me tell you-I thought Cheap Trick sounded pretty good considering they have been called the weak link so far. Sounded good and the place was packed for them, although Rick Nielson thought the crowd wasnt screaming loud enough. He said "Just cause we have to keep it below 90db doesnt mean you have too...." Also liked the Joe Dirt comments before If you want my love. "This song is from a film, I think 10 of you saw it...unfortunately you have to wait till the last 3 minutes to hear us..." I loved hearing the old classics live. This is the only band on this show I had never seen before.
Heart was unreal and thats putting it mildly. They sounded as good as they did when I saw them in 1987. I really wasnt eager to hear the Who cover "Reign Oer Me" but Ann nailed this motherfucker and made you like her version. Just awesome as shit. Nancy looked hotter than 10 hades out there-I wanted her ass badly...
Speaking of hot did I mention it was 450 degrees inside this ampitheater???
And what can I say about Journey. This night belonged to them and the crowd was totally stoked and into them. They sang along on all the classics. I was a little disappointed when after being on their feet for all the classics they sat back down when they said "and now a new song..." But Arnel was all over the place and sounded great. He didnt miss a note. Many people we met going in werent real sure about him but leaving they were believers. Neal cranked as usual....just a terrific guitarist.
Side note-at several points thru the night a bunch of people were chanting "bring back Steve Perry"

We had a great time and I cant wait till the next show!!!! I actually got to take my 17 year old daughter to her first Journey concert and she loved it, said they sounded as good live as on CD.... I agree!

Many people on this board tend to not dig Cheap Trick because they're not "Melodic Rock" enough.
Fact is, the band has ALWAYS been a great band and they've still got everybody intact. They still
write ROCK tunes. I don't get why people don't get them.
Zander's singing better now than he ever has. Seriously great band that doesn't get enough credit.
Their last album "Rockford" was a great power pop album.

The masses are asses. Seriously, to do that to the band in front of them. No class.
Write to Ellen's web site if you just can't move on with your life.

Will people ever get over this? Hard to believe people would pay that kind of dough to rant at the band.

But it's rude. I dunno, I don't go to my step mom's house and go "Bring back my mom, bring back my mom"-
oops, there's that 'divorced parent thingy'. Guess I better post on Ellen's site.

People suck. Plain and simple.

Reminds me of a post I read once in the Styx forum. Somebody went to one of DeYoung's shows and was waving a Styx shirt in his face and just ragging on Dennis from the audience saying how much better Styx was.... something LIKE that. Glen Burtnik (who sure in the hell doesn't need Styx or Dennis) totally got in the guy's face.

I just don't understand how people can suck so much.

They should bring out a mannequin of Steve in a wheel chair or something, then go off stage for a few minutes so the crowd can turn on the people that were chanting. Now that would be funny, possibly violent and bloody, but funny.

It's a shame it had to happen in Atlanta of all places, it just enforces the "Redneck" stereotype even more.

I'm sure there's at least a small contingent of fans at every show that do that. :(

I saw them with Augeri in New Orleans right after Arrival came out. I didn't hear any chants, but I wasn't listening for them either.

Maybe after the show, they should run video of Steve Perry so that everybody goes home happy... Slow motion clips of him running, shaving, petting cats as people are filing out.

It's just idiotic.

Remember that SNL skit about "Elvis' Coat"? They could do that with Perry's Tux jacket. Play some of the tunes that present day Journey doesn't play and have the coat open the show instead of a band. It could last 45 minutes or so while people are getting their jumbo beers and foot long hot dogs and getting seated. Then they could have the last thing be (before Journey comes on) "I was toast.... TOAST. T O A S T !-" have it reverberate around the arena and then a huge explosion and into Escape. That'd rock and make everyone happy.

I can't imagine what that must be like to hear that in every town (you know they do).

No, not this time. From what I read on the Journey forum AKA Backtalk this is common all across the country.

Not sure about that Progster, shes only 17(hey, I sound like Kip Winger)....Yeah, the ones who do that Perry shit are tools. Especially when Arnel is performing his heart out and doing a great job. Believe me, there were more folks by far who enjoyed this concert regardless of who held that microphone.
