Chalfant/Hugo/Augeri/other Perrylike singers discographies

PostPosted: Fri Aug 15, 2008 4:31 pm

This thread purpose is to present singers with vocal range and singing style with simmilarities to Steve Perry and current Journey singer Arnel Pineda.
Some singers would have more, some less simmilar voice to Steve Perry, but I'm sure this might be interesting for at least some of people here.
I know, it was done before, but there are always people who need this lists, so I'm gonna start this thread and update it bit by bit...
Some of the names: Kevin Chalfant, Hugo Valenti, Steve Augeri, Terry Brock, Tony Mills, Shawn Pelata, David Glen Eisley, Piere Wensberg, Jim Jidhed, Stefan Kammerer, Fergie Frederiksen, Dave Bickler, Mickey Thomas and lots more...

Hope it helps,

Maro

TERRY BROCK

Strangeways - Native Sons
Strangeways - Walk In Fire
The Suits - Ties That Bind
Strangeways - Greatest Bits (compilation, he sings on 10 of 15 songs)

Strangeways - Living In The Dangerzone (compilation, he sings on songs 5-15)
The Sign - The Second Coming
Slamer - Nowhere Land
Voices Of Rock - MMVVII (on song Nightingale)
upcoming Terry Brock solo album (unknown release date)

Small notice:
Terry Brock played guitar and sung a lot of backing vocals on many releases by other artists... I'd mention here only band Seventh Key...

TONY MILLS (strictly Journey-esque selection):

Tony Mills - Cruiser
Shy - Unfinished Business
Shy - Sunset And Vine
Northern Light - s/t (on songs While There's Still Time and When I Close My Eyes)
upcoming China Blue - Twilight Of Destiny (unknown release date)
possible second Northern Light release (on songs Across The Barricades and Every New Frontier)

Small notice:
Tony Mills is one of the biggest vocal chameleons in business so his other work (other Shy albums, Siam, other solo albums, The Anderson Mills Project and TNT) doesn't sound a bit like Journey and his voice sounds completely different there.

SHAWN PELATA (strictly AOR selection):

Line Of Fire - s/t
Liberty N' Justice - Independence Day (on song My Sacrifice)
upcoming Line Of Fire second album (unknown release date)

Small notice:
Before Line Of Fire project, Shawn Pelata was lead singer in couple of heavy metal bands (Oracle, Trampled Underfoot, K-Octave).
Their albums obviously don't fit in style this thread is all about.

DAVID GLEN EISLEY (strictly AOR selection):

Giuffria - s/t
OST - Gotcha (on Giuffria's songs Never Too Late, Say It Ain't True and What's Your Name)
Giuffria - Silk & Steel
Dirty White Boy - Bad Reputation
David Glen Eisley - Stranger From The Past
David Glen Eisley - The Lost Tapes

Small notice:
David Glen Eisley is also very versatile artist, so his other work (Craig Goldy's Ritual, Murderer's Row, Stream, solo album War Dogs, etc.) doesn't fit here.
While two Giuffria's albums are pure melodic bliss, some of songs on Dirty White Boy album and his two solo albums tend to be little heavier, but there is still lot's of Journey-esque work on them.

JIM JIDHED (english language selection):

Alien - s/t (there are two versions of this album; second version (one with face on "psychodelic" black-red cover) doesn't have four songs from first version (one with castle in snow and blue sky on cover), which were replaced with two new songs with Jidhed's replacement Pete Sandberg)

Sayit - Again (on song I Can't Go On)
Radioactive - Ceremony Of Innocence (on song Silent Cries)
Jim Jidhed - Full Circle

Small notice:
Jim Jidhed sounds closest to Steve Perry on his Full Circle album, Radioactive and Sayit projects.
His other two solo albums sung in swedish language aren't of much interest to this topic.

Another SMALL note.....
On 'Full Circle' Mr Jidhed covered Mr Steve Perry's unreleased 'Lost Angels', which was a song that never made the final cut of 'FTLOSM' and did an exceptional version of the song.
