You know, I was very skeptical as to how PR would sound on a Queen album, but that sounds damn good.

Man, I was too, but it is GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Doesn't really sound like Queen per se', but it DOES sound like guys who are rock legends. Paul is STILL one of the great singers of all time and May is a monster on guitar.

The songs not bad. Actually pretty good ..... but ..... its not Queen. It sounds like The Firm more than it sounds like Queen.

I'll still check out the cd though since I like BadCo. and The Firm

Yes, on all accounts. Paul Rodgers' voice is irreplaceable in Rock 'n Roll and it wouldn't be the same without him. As good as that track sounds, I still think JSS would have sounded better fronting Queen. I also think JSS would sound great fronting VH. He can sing DLR's music better than DLR can, now days.

Straight ahead rock and roll as expected. Nothing special.

It's special in that it's the continuance of Queen. That's an iconic band that would otherwise be a shame to lose.

It's not Queen. This is Queen + Paul Rodgers. They aren't trying to replicate the past or "legacy sound" so to speak. They are old friends just creating new music. Nothing wrong with that. Good track.

It's NOT "Queen + Paul Rodgers". "Under Pressure" was recorded by "Queen + David Bowie". This is nothing more than "Brian, Roger and some unknown guy on bass + Paul Rodgers".

Queen was iconic because the 4 original members stayed in the band. Freddie said so himself before he passed. Queen died with him. I admire Deacon for bailing on this.

Interesting points. It's still great to me that they move on.

Let me ask you, and I'm not criticizing. Shouldn't Journey have moved on too then? Based on your opinion of Queen I am curious about your opinion on that.

Maybe. They're case could be made to continue that Journey was created by Herbert built around Schon and Rolie, members came and went very early on. Basically interchangable parts whenever it was needed
Queen on the other hand were 4 friends from college, who got together on their own and put a band together. Lasted til Freddie's death. Just seems so wrong. Deacon felt so strongly about the original members, that he initially declined to take part in the "Concert for Life". He changed his mind because it was in rememberance to Mercury.
Don't get me wrong I love Brian May. Have both his solo cd's. Both pretty damn good. I just think this is wrong.

paul rodgers + queen is bad company. i love both bands but hearing pr do "hammer to fall" just ain't for me. george michael is closer to that legacy sound just don't know if he would fit better with the band and vice versa. a one time tour won't hurt i guess unless they play some wham songs!

Perry didn't die and Journey didn't die when Perry left.

As notable as May's token guitar sound is, Queen will forever be associated with Freddie's showmanship and voice.

Paul Rodgers and Queen is just plain bad in my opinion. I just can't get into this new album at all and have really mixed feelings when I hear Rodgers sing classic Queen songs live, as I did when JSS was fronting Journey. It doesn't necessarily sound wrong just very, very different. Jeff would have been absolutely stellar in Queen though. Ah, to think what could have been!

I thought May said he didn't want a Mercury Clone, that's why he didn't go with Jeff and he was also a little surprised to see Neal go that route.

Can I have Gary Cherone? Nah!! Seriously, I think Jeff would do well. He could do the whole catalog, which even if they wanted to DLR couldn't. He just gets by singing his old stuff as it is. Still puts on a good show though!! :D

And that right there is the beauty of that which is DLR. He is more than vocals. A true artistic frontman.

Gary Cherone? Man that VH 3 album did NOTHING for me. That was in a whole different and dark direction. I do like a couple of tracks though. But you have to quit thinking it's Van Halen to begin to like it.

Decent song but I don't hear too much of the classic Queen sound. I'd feel better about it Queen MINUS Paul Rodgers.
