When they scheduled the games who would know that Notre Dame would suck (last 2 or 3 years), and Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue and Michigan State are hardly cupcakes. Add in their fantastic bowl record and the fact that they always seem to win their bowl games and you have a stellar program. Top 10 program for sure (decade to decade).

You can't help playing teams in your own conference, but they never seem to play decent out of conference teams: Florida, Auburn....hell - any SEC teams.

Just like my Blue Devils, always playing shit non-conference teams: Fordham, Fairfield, Iona....WTF?

When you have to play in the SEC it makes good sense to have an easier OOC schedule. Athough Florida played Hawaii(last year BCS team), Miami(major state rival) and Florida State(same as Miami)-thats not necessarily a cupcake schedule like Iona, etc...

Yeah, about 3 years. Michael Robison's last year they wound up #3 in the final polls. Their only loss was a terribly officiated game where the refs put 3 seconds back on the clock...for no apparent reason and then let Michigan run a 6 second play that only took 4, conveniently leaving 1 second on the clock and allowing Michigan to score a touchdown on the last play of the game and win.

Michigan's final drive, fueled by a Steve Breaston kick return to midfield, started with an apparent interception that was later reviewed to be out of bounds. The Wolverines called timeout after a Henne pass completion with the clock stopped at :28. Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr called the officials over, and after a protest by Carr and a long conference, the officials reset the game clock to 0:30. Those extra two seconds would turn out to impact the outcome of the game. Six plays later, with 0:01 on the clock, Michigan would score the game-winning touchdown on a Henne pass to Mario Manningham.

Penn State intercepted the ball. The game should have been over. They blew an easy call, and then put 2 seconds back on the clock after Carr bitched and moaned...allowing one more play. . Replays also confirmed that this was in error!!! They got screwed 3 times. It was a hose job, plain and simple.

Is Penn State and Michigan playing this saturday??? If so, watch out for Michigan-they are backs to the wall now and the spirit of that program is gonna burst out...could be the upset special of the weekend.

I agree! Penn State's played well, and I applaud them. Paterno (like the good coach he is) has corrected some of the deficiencies from past years.

Uhhhhhhhh ..... might have to respectfully disagree with you on that one. They lost to ..... Toledo, which is, of course, of all the Mid-American Conference teams, the best one in the Western Division in northwestern Ohio in a city that ends in a vowel.

Not a chance in hell. But if they did lose to Michigan I would immediately pull them from any national championship talk. Kinda like you should have done after losing to Ole Piss.  USC shouldn't be considered either.

Losing in the SEC to an SEC team is a lot more respectable than losing to most other teams in the country..but yes, we should still be ashamed of that one.

Speaking of USC, they and Penn State used to play each other quite a bit. I'd like to see that rivalry resurface.

What a lot of people don't know is that Penn State lost Sean Lee, the best linebacker in the country, to a pre-season injury. Additionally, they had their top 2 defensive lineman kicked off of the team and lost 2 others to injury!!! This team would have been scary good had it not been for thug-like behavior and a few injuries.
