I wonder how much Heart and Cheaptrick get out of it. Heart especially was a big draw for the shows. Looks like they finished #7 for the summer so not bad at all.

21MIL is NOT BAD for some wash up band fronted by Karaoke singer as some naysayers were saying before.
Good Job and hope that they can sustain this uplift....Bravo!

Because it was a package tour! If they were touring by themselves or with an unknown opener, I'd be more impressed.

They didn't quite make the Top 10 slideshow, though. Stupid Rascal Flatts barely beat them apparently.

I got queasy when I saw Dave Matthews.

They were very smart selling the tickets so early in the year (and the article mentioned that in general). Had they waited, I guarantee you ticket sales would've been down. Next year may be very rough. It may be in their best interest to just record an album and return in 2010. Either that or tour solo and play smaller venues but charge big $ or find a monster tour next year that would make financial sense.

Making upwards of 20 mil doing what you love after 30+ years in a brutal industry ... I don't see how that is not success.

I consider myself blessed to able to see the music I love performed live in the company of friends. I had a blast ...

Hey, this is only because people keep cheering about the "Journey tour" and how much money was made, as if they did it all by themselves. Someone wrote "...not bad for a has-been..." in this thread. I also stand by my statement that I'd be impressed if THEY DID IT ALL BY THEMSELVES! But they didn't, so numbers mean absolutely nothing to me, unless you stood there polling each and every attentant at each show and asked who they came to see.

For once, get out of attack mode simply because I'm not someone screaming how wonderful Journey is every chance I get! It's not like I came on here spewing how lame you are for liking them, now did I? I seldomly come on here because one's own opinions aren't tolerated here (case in point) and I'm not one who revels in baiting others simply for the excitement, so why am I suddenly in your cross hairs? :?

You just want them to wait while you gather more shit for them to sign

HANG ON! They made more than $21.4 million. The timeline was May 1 until Labor Day (Sept. 1). They still toured for another month. That's nearly a third of their tour. They probably pulled in the $28 -$29 million range. Which puts them near the Top 5.

I loved the tour...but if you think Journey would have had that level of success without Heart with them...you're drinking too much of the coolade. The main reason I think this is that Journey by themselves did not sell out the smallest venue Kansas City had to offer. That concerned me a bit.

I'm happy for them and for us fans to be able to see a great concert this summer...I just think you can't ignore the impact Heart (and maybe Cheap Trick to a much lessor degree) had on the tour.

HOTELS
They NEED to cut back with the quality hotels they stay at. That is totally wasting money. A Super 8 or Motel 6 is all they need. Hell, just sleep on the bus, it's like a house on wheels anyway.

SALARIES (FOR ROADIES ONLY)
In general, I have been surprised to date, that no road crew (that I've seen) isn't just a bunch of illegal aliens yet. I figured someone would've been all over that. $3/hr. (cash), no food or poor food, and shitty accomadations (one Uhaul for the whole crew, just pack them in there).

FUEL
For next year, when the gas prices bottom out here to below $3, seriously, buy a couple of tankers. Buy the gas now, while it's cheap.

Maybe Friga will put out another solo Cd.You can buy it and have him sign it, hear him make his rehearsed "here is a real fan" comment, then you can fawn all over him again

Corrected! BUY the gas now.

You should've been able to figure that out. I thought you were the one who invented Stevebonics.
