Thanks Gordon. I'm just glad to've found this one. SK live clips are pretty rare. This is the first I've found.

Thanks for the link to the live clip...Lou sounded awesome there. That must've been '90 or '91

I don't have any Foreigner/Shadow King/Lou solo boots but that clip definitely shows Lou could still bring it even at the age of 40 at that point.

Here's some clips from him on a show with Leno. Not sure if it was the Tonight Show so I can't place the year. Good live clips.

Lou rules, no doubt about it!
Thanks for the Shadow King link. Never got to see them live as their show in my area was cancelled (with Patty Smyth as the scheduled opener).

Here's a clip of Lou covering the Beatles from some John Lennon tribute, I believe in the late 80's(?)

and a live version of Foreigner doing"Soul Doctor" from '94

and finally, a live version of "Chain of Fools" from 1990

That version of TWY is my favorite, far better than the very good studio version and Lou sounds awesome here. That whole show was recorded just up the street from my home.

That DVD is a great performance. You will not be disappointed.
I too burned it to a CD and regularly fire it on the iPod.

I have a feeling that one day we'll see him sing near what he used to. The guy's a tough motherfucker and I pray that his hard wok and persistence pay off. It couldn't happen to a better guy.

I'm currently sitting in the lobby of a Days Inn (it's pretty much the only way I can get internet access on the road) listening to Shadowking's "I Want You". 8)
I'm so glad you guys told me about this band.
And it's certainly a day brightener to see this thread is still going strong!
Lou Gramm rocks!!!!

Dang it I can't wait for his new album...

Hi Sara, ConversationPC gets the credit on that one. He introduced SK to us in a Gramm thread a while back. It's one of my favorite cds now.

I listen to Gramm, SK, & Foreigner much more than Journey anymore.

Here's a great older track

I have that album on vinyl at home. First Foreigner album I ever bought. I'd heard they're usual stuff on the radio and thought maybe I'd give them a try.

This song got to me the first time I heard it;
"Blinded By Science"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsT3N6mjh14

I knew "that guy who sings" was good but this song had me almost in tears. At that point I was hooked.

I don't think there's a Gramm track since Foreigner's s/t that I don't like. He got better and better with each release until he got sick.

A lot of his music and the fact that he's still out there trying is a great inspiration to me.

R.E.M covering Gramm. Midnight Blue

Stipe PALES in comparison to Gramm, sounds like a wailing dog when he does the oooh.

Good news SK and Gramm fans, more SK live vids on the way. Here's the reply from the OP.

Re: Gramm and SK

Yes, I have. It's on a dvd that I found on E-bay, which contains interviews with Lou Gramm and Vivian Campbell as the key guests on MTV's Hangers Ball, then the 'I Want You' video clip and 4 performances from Shadow King's only concert. I can upload the 3 other clips in some time, so be patient :)

Lots of greetings, Renée

In the meantime, here's classic Gramm.

Down On Love

Some people stay all alone and hide
They don't even want to know the reason why
They've given up on finding someone new
But new love comes, it's gonna come for you
When true love comes, it's gonna comfort you

Now you say you've got a broken heart
You oughta know this side of love
can leave you torn apart
Dry your eyes 'cause your heart's gonna mend
And maybe tonight you'll fall in love again
Yeah, maybe tonight you'l fall in love again

But I know, I know that you're down on love
But you're wrong, so wrong
To be down on love

Now love seems so far away
Your skies are so cloudy
And the tears come like fallin' rain
Face up to it and don't pretend
And maybe tonight you'll fall in love again
Yeah, maybe tonight you'll fall in love again
Just once in a life you'll realize
When love takes two, only one heart cries

But you're wrong, so wrong to be down on love
You know you're not the only one
See I've been down on love

In matters of the heart
You better know before you start
You can't get down on love

So always be prepared
To be alone and a little scared
But never down on love

You see you can't stay down forever, girl
Down on love
Come on, now
Don't get down on love
This ain't right baby, no
Down on love
Don't you go through life livin' down on love

Thanks J-Rod, that made my day. :D

Danger and Boy are my favorites off the cd. Lou rocks on all these, check out the power in his voice at the end of Boy. Like Giant, Shadow King was a great band gone too soon.

According to Renee, this was their only concert (Astoria Theatre in London, England, on December 13, 1991).
